(Solved) TF2 shuts down computer
help me with this prob pls :C TF2 keeps shutting down my pc. I had a pc before this one (it was very bad) the same thing used to happen with it but then I used a cfg which fixed that problem otherwise if I didnt use a cfg it would shut down my pc after a few mins of playing a map. and now that I have a new pc the same thing is still happening. I used mastercomfig (max performance preset) with only shader detail high. after a few mins in tr walkway my pc crashed. Then I mixed comanglia with mastercomfig (autoexec of comanglia and other things of mastercomfig) then the problem was fixed. but when i use both of them I kinda get low fps spikes. I also want good graphics but it keeps crashing my pc. Can anyone please help me with this problem? I have seen a lot of these discussions but didnt find anything helpful. Any help would be appreciated. Here are my specs:
PC: Intel core i5-2400 3.10 GHz (4 CPUs)
Graphics card: Nvidia Geforce 9800 Gt (512 mb)
Ram: 4 GB
and also this doesnt happen with other games
Edit: Now that I am playing the game on Dx Level 8, the same things happens even though I am still using the two cfgs. A thing I noticed was that I can hear the CPU still on and making normal noises but my monitor just goes black and requires a restart. Also this mostly happens when I am playing on an empty server with like 3 or 4 people. Can anyone help why it happens on empty servers? How could it overheat on empty svs but not in svs full?

UPDATE: I bought another better gpu, which fixed the problem. So the reason my TF2 was shutting my PC down was that my old gpu would overheat whenever I played TF2 even though I got pretty nice fps. Thanks for helping me out!

Ur problem is ur drivers or gpu. Because a year ago, my PC always shuts down Playing source engine games such as TF2, Cs source (I could play cs 1.6 at least), etc. (My graphics card are nvidia gt 540m)

Solution: Get a better PC because to repair is almost 700euros

theres a problem about your gpu because if gpu or cpu becomes hot computer shutsdown itself

if it's just randomly shutting off, sounds like you have heat issues

That isn't a new PC. That is a 7 year old PC with a 10 year old graphics card.

I'm very glad I'm not the only one with this problem. However my problem started around early August. Now Steam engine games don't seem to work anymore.

My brother, he's a genius with computers, knows more about them than me and I asked him to do what he can. Been at it for 2-3 days and still can't sort it despite upgrading my computer.

The common problem is bluescreen about a page_fault_in_nonpaged_area error or something. The best we can get it now is that TF2 does run but certain maps causes crashes.

I'm hoping the problem will fix itself with any upcoming updates VALVe may have for Steam Engine in general. That or I will have to buy a new motherboard and ROM for games that worked fine before, which I find extremely unfair that I need to upgrade my computer in order to play games that worked fine just a few months a go.

I'll never get my TF2 and GMod maps finished now.

this problem has been bothering me from a year (like yeah i fixed by getting some cfgs) but after i fixed it with some low end cfgs i dont think that buying a better pc was any use when i have to play with pretty much the same graphics. if u dont have any idea how to fix it then trying download comanglia or mastercomfig cfgs or try merging them both they helped me but give me low fps and if i use only 1 cfg my pc shuts down :C. I hope valve fixes it somehow gl with ur fix tho

I hope VALVe fixes it too.

It's one thing there are games too old and simple to be played on modern computers but Steam Engine worked fine not long a go, so if I am not the only one whos TF2, GMod and other Steam games are severely crashing then why Steam fallen to struggling running on our computers now?

It's this crud why my computer-expert brother hates computers. to him they don't always do the simple functions they are made for.

Eitherway if Scream Fortress X gonna be awesome or not, may have to sit it out if I can't even play Team Foretress 2.
