And they don’t work in water
And they aren’t great with countering pyroes
Atleast the reserve shooter can
Mini crit soldier, pyro and demoman
Work in water
And counter pyroes
Mini crit a mid air target who will land in a matter of seconds, water that’s on like 5 maps, again one class out of nine. And the reserve shooter does NOTHING of value that the other two shotguns can’t.
2 - Flare Gun (Good for long range, but worse than the shotgun for close range)
3 - Panic attack (Not as good as the shotgun, as the inaccuracy means you have to get closer to do more damage, but the faster switch speed and fixed pattern helps a little bit)
4 - Scorch shot (Alright for long range, and the knock back can push back übered players if you’re too far to airblast them)
5 - Reserve shooter (Just a worse shotgun)
6 - Detonator (Good for being a mobile pyro, and isn’t too bad as a weapon
7 - Manmelter (Very situational, but is the only flare gun that crits pyros)
8 - Thermal thruster (Takes away a reliable secondary, and takes too long to put away, but is good for being a mobile pyro)
9 - Gas passer (Only decent in MVM)
At least that’s my take on it, of course you can be better with this weapon than with this other weapon

Pretty sure flares have the slowest reload in the game, rivalled only by the FaN which reloads 2 shots at a time.
we don't talk about the scorch shot
1. Shotgun, but that's because I use it all the time.
2. Detonator.
3. Scorch Shot, but that's mostly because I'm in Casual gameplay and most Snipers don't have the DDS equipped.
4. Flare Gun, usually rotates with Scorch Shot for placement depending if I'm helping buddies in a pug or in intense Casual play.
5. Manmelter. Helps conserve flamethrower ammo, probably one of few-- if not the only-- projectile(s) that can not be reflected. NOW CONFIRMED THAT IT CAN BE REFLECTED, but very difficult to.
6. Gas Passer. I think people force this weapon to be too aggressive in Casual. It's not like Jarate or Mad Milk but definitely a defensive utlity. Ironically, in order for the timer to go by faster you have to deal damage consistently with your primary, and thankfully, that passes onto the next time you respawn, so you don't have to tryhard to reset.
7. Panic Attack.
8. Thermal Thruster.
9. Reserve Shooter. Unless you're constantly targeted by a Trolldier or a Jetpack Pyro this is pretty much a bad shotgun. Even worse than the Panic Attack (for Pyro, that is)
Agreed, but out of the flare guns I've never seem to reflect the Manmelter's. No matter what I try.
I'll go looking into it and test it out to see if it can be or not.
