Is TF2 for children too?
kids complain here for getting kicked, bullied, scammed, never unboxing an unusual and so on

but aren't they too young to play it?

in casual, if red has 10 kids out of 12 players and blu 5 kids out of 11 players, which team will win most likely?

the half playerbase of tf2 might be below the age of 13. not that i dislike them, but everyone knows that kids have the most free time. they're too many.

if you get 10 medals (dominations) in one round casual, you might've dominated 10 kids. feel invincible now?

I honestly recommend you to delete this post now before it get any more comments. cus when you speak about a topic like this it instantly get like a 100 comments and the enviroment gets pretty toxic.

That's like asking if MLP is for adults. The answer should be no due to targeted audience, but that's not going to stop people from outside the recommended age group to enjoy it.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with it so long as they're being mature.
parents don't care what game thier kid plays because the parents just see videogames as a childs toy for their child

It's not meant for kids, but that doesn't mean they can't enjoy it. TF2 isn't a game where it really matters that much unless you are very sensitive to things like swears.

Also, kid =/= bad.

yes
the only prerequisite for consuming a piece of media is being mature enough to understand and handle what you're engaging with
if a particular person isn't, they're probably going to have a bad time
that said, a lot of kids integrate well into the game, and a lot of vets around these days started playing when they were much younger
b4nny started playing tf2 when he was 15, and probably would have been called a squeaker by some of the idiots around nowadays

despite what armchair internet commentary says, parents generally do keep an eye out for content that they wouldn't put their kids in front of
they just don't have the time or education about the material needed to engage with it on a deeper level and judge if it's truly appropriate
anyone looking at tf2 at a glance will just see a cartoony game, not a billion dollar e-conomy and porn sprays

scamming/harrassment are on the scammers and scumbags that cause it and enable it
valve is responsible for dealing with them regardless of who the victim is
children are just easier targets due to being unfamiliar with what they're dealing with

valve allowing children to gamble is its own can of worms

children are some of the least offensive/annoying players around
they might be goofy sometimes, but i'd much rather play with them than toxic whackjob teenagers or 20somethings that literally can't shut the ♥♥♥♥ up for 5 seconds

that aside, they're generally easily avoidable by just playing on weekdays when school is in

bad players are entitled to playing the game
age isn't a factor
plenty of people over 18 are awful

It's not a toy for children, but it's not that far from that.
You see, videogames are entertainment. It doesn't usually have any direct benefits in work, school or whatever you do. Entertainment is rather about taking a break, relaxing, taking your problems down from your shoulders for a bit, and having fun.

age restriction is a joke until 2030 maybe, doesn´t matter much, sure it´s no good a 8 year old playing Outlast, but for most parents of the past decade and the current one they don´t give a f*ck
It's not "for" children too. There are lots of children that DO play it, because Valve's age gate system is an absolute joke and can easily be bypassed. The M tag applied for TF2 means that it's intended for mature audiences, not kids that haven't even reached puberty yet.

yes, but remember: you need to keep it to yourself.

no one cares if you're a kid if no one knows you're a kid: DONT use the mic.

just like bronies: people only start hating you when you actively express your love for the show. its not something you need to be airing out in public. just keep it to yourself, and no one will be the wiser.

Think of it this way: if TF2 was FOR children too, the game would be rated E for everyone, not M for mature audiences. It's intentionally excluding kids for a reason.
HoBoMiKe Oct 3, 2018 @ 2:28pm
it kinda....LOOKS, like a kid-friendly game, i guess from afar.

it's got those bright, wide-outline cartoony looking graphics kids love.

but then you start to squint, and see medic dripping in blood, and soldier's PTSD, and pyro burning people alive and giggling, and realize that it most certainly is not.
