The intelligence of each character in TF2, and who's the smartest.
So, I happen to notice nobody made a discussion about which character is the smartest (I'm probably not searching hard enough), and I want to make a discussion about that. I'll put what I think, and if you guys have a different suggestion, let me know and maybe we can have a sort of "official" intelligence rating. I wouldn't call any of them borderline stupid, but I think some people are just smarter than others.

1. Medic

Even though he's insane, he invented the medigun. Although from the early versions of Meet the Medic, it was an accidental discovery, he was able to make a machine that utilizes jarate, sandviches, blood, and whatever crap that was in that concoction. He's also good enough to do live surgeries (with the help of his medigun). He revived Sniper when he was shot twice in the chest in the comics too. He was able to calculate how long the Mercanaries had with his incredibly skilled algebra (can we even call it algebra). Using the formula 6 times a day x 1460 days - They aren't bread = 3 days. It then shows that Medic might even be correct, as the bread mutates and is shown to be attacking Medic near the climax. The biggest feat of surgery Medic has done was remove a WHOLE SKELETON out of a person and have the person still have enough energy to wake up. Without a skeleton the whole body collapes on itself, basically doing a suicide, yet Medic was able to keep the patient alive for that long. He outsmarted the Devil by reading his contract meticulously enough to find small flaws and details he can abuse. Engie is probably one whole level under Medic.

2. Engineer

In the comics, he's the guy that handles the australium for the admin, and he's the only guy who can work with technology in TF2. He's also smart enough to literally replace his hand with a robotic hand that functions normally. We can probably assume he's really good at computing and mathmatics (although the blueprints are from his dad).

3. Spy

Spy is bilingual, and is pretty good at English too. He doesn't have a heavy (hahhahahahahaa) accent and he can also decieve people really well. In Meet the Spy, he was so good at imitating Scout, they thought the BLU Spy was the RED Spy and shot him. Another instance of his expertise at language was when he was able to communicate his away around the Classic Heavy. Finally, he just can get girls easily. He taught Scout the way of hitting up dates in Expiration Date. That's about it for him.

4. Pyro

I know, I know. Why is Pyro above other people? Well, apparently, Pyro owns a multimillion company, which means he must have some talent for making money while being a scary-looking guy.

5. Demoman

Demoman is skilled enough to have 3 jobs. Maintaining 3 jobs would mean he would have at least have enough smarts in each field to get a job (unless those 3 jobs are blowing up people, McDonalds, and Burger King). He can also turn his whole body into an alchohol making machine, so he has control of his body I guess?

6. Heavy

Some of you guys may think Heavy is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and all, but he may not be so much after my explaination. Heavy had a PhD in Russian Literature, so he has at least some expertise at one field. He also has lots of knowledge about guns and stuff. In the Russian Version of Meet the Heavy, he actually seems to speak pretty intelligently, in comparison to his English version. Heavy and Spy are probably the most sane out of the mercanaries in TF2.

7. Sniper

Sniper well... doesn't really show any signs of him being smart or dumb. I mean, I guess he's smart since he's a self-trained sniper (assuming since the lore never says he had professional training). A sniper needs to calculate wind speeds and bullet arc, but I guess since Sniper shot so much, it's second nature and he can just guess how high his scope needs to go to hit heads.

8. Scout

Scout is pretty dumb, like Soldier. He can't pronounce Submachine Gun in the comics, calling them "Submackeens". He also invested all of his money on Tom Jones items, predicting that when Tom Jones is dead, all of his items will be worth millions. However, it is shown he is a hard worker and is willing to learn to get what he wants. In Expiration Date, Scout is shown to be reading lots of books about getting girls, and is even shown to be improving as the film goes on.

9. Soldier

Soldier, well, the only smart thing we see Soldier do is learn a variety of weapons and know about Sun Tzu's teachings. After that, he did a massacre by himself. Soldier is not totally "insane", but he's kinda crazy. He's not totally crazy because he is a lawyer that tried to defend Scout, but Scout claims that Soldier is a bad lawyer. Soldier has terrible math, since he counts on fingers. He also can’t recognize blood immediately in Meet the Spy.

This is the intelligence level I put for each class, and if you guys think of anything different, I'd like to have a discussion!

Forgot Pyro.. hm.. I'd have to put Pyro either before or after Scout, im leaning towards after, so nr 6

well i really couldn't find any moments where sniper shows any feats of intelligence, and heavy claims that he has a phd in russian literature. you could argue for demo, but i think heavy is slightly smarter than sniper

Okay but if you think about all the trailers and read the comic I think Heavy pretty much lands on the 8th place xD He just comes off as ret**ded, whereas the Sniper never does anything either ret**ded or genius

Cardboard Cow is the smartest.
engineer > medic > spy > heavy > demo > sniper > scout > soldier > pyro

I’d argue that engie is smarter than medic, since medic also shows to be highly smart at math and technology

i'd call them equal. medic studies the science of biology; engineer, robotics.

heavy is DEFINITELY smarter than demoman, who's a drunkard, and pyro, who's so stupid he can't even comprehend reality correctly.

heavy should be under spy, everything else seems about right

-Says Heavy and Spy most sane out of all the mercenaries
-Heavy in love with his miniguns

if you owned 150 kilograms of full auto firepower, you'd be in love too.

you wouldnt love the bill after 12 seconds of firing, but you'd love the weapon.
Demo uses 100% of his brain, since he can directly task organs with functions they arent supposed to be capable of.

Or he's just insane and it's all that alcohall and adrenalin keeping him going. He did afterall make ROBOTS...drunk.

Demo is one of the most sanest mercs being in line with Sniper and Engi. And Demo doesnt produce blood, he literally has alcohol transport oxygen to his lungs.

Here's a better one

Engie = Medic > Spy > Heavy > Sniper > Demo > Scout > Soldier > Pyro

Actually Pyro's smarter than Soldier (and Scout & Sniper for that matter) as he was able to run a company after being fired from Mann Co.
