FPS drops on high end pc
I'm getting a lot of frame drops lately in TF2, espcialy in fights.
I used to get 250+ FPS, now it just drops to 90 - 60 FPS. TF2 and discord are the only apps running on my PC

My specs:
i7-4790K
GTX 980 ti
16gb ddr3 ram
corsair h100i cpu cooler

the game is installed on an SSD btw

Let me check on that...

Try running a benchmark to see if any of your parts are underperforming. Also try an FPS config.

OW and CSGO seem to be fine, but there's something unsual about TF2...

I had a similar thing happen to me where most games would run fine but TF2 became almost unplayable. Turned out my SSD was dying and, cause I didn't see the signs soon enough, I lost a bit of data (though still managed to save most of it).

How can I know if my SSD is dying? it's almsot 1.5 year old

Well for me at first the only major issue I had was with tf2 hitching, but as time went on other games started freezing up as well. Programs took longer to open then usual, boot times became even slower than a hard drive, and eventually Windows straight up told me my SSD was failing. You can test if your SSD (and your other parts) is underperforming with the bench at userbenchmark.com. You can also try Geekbench 4 to focus more specifically on parts such as your CPU and GPU.

Go options > keyboard > scroll to miscellaneous
Clear key for "Take screenshot", "save replay" and "take steam abuse screenshot".
See if it works
