Team Fortress 2 reference found in Ready Player One!? (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)
Well, it's not anything major, to be exact. Besides, there was so much♥♥♥♥♥♥going on I'd need to see it frame-by-frame to make heads-and-tails of it. I mean, you had DC Comics, Battleborn, Sonic the Hedgehog, the Shining, Duke Nukem, Halo, Overwatch, Terminator, Mad Max, Borderlands, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Gundam, Chucky, Robocop, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Iron Giant, Start Wars, Battlestar Galactica, World War II, Sonic the Hedgehog, Looney Tunes, Street Fighter and a whole bunch of other♥♥♥♥♥♥(I saw Harley Quinn and Tracer taking up the scene too many times now), where'd you find TF2? Seriously, it was like Sword Art Online if it was made in the USA.

I saw the film just before, and the only TF2 reference I found was this:

On James Halliday's shirt, there's something resembling the Team Fortress logo in different colours. It could be interpreted as something else (Like that 'Simon' memory game), but I'd personally like to believe it.

I did make a previous thread on how if TF2 wasn't clearly mentioned, another Valve game would. I saw a scene that had the avatar of Chell from Portal, and something resembling Wheatley or GLaDOS was in Aech's workshop.

Anyone who's seen the film, did you find any Team Fortress or Valve reference?

Not even Pixar films? Those are good. Well, most of them. (we don't talk about cars 2)

i saw the movie and it was utter trash, the screenplay/story was uninteresting and the concept has been done by many better movies before.

Ready player one is supposed to be about a fantasy digital world made from modern game so tf2 wouldn’t fit that setting.

Well, they had older games like Joust, Sonic, Adventure Quest and Battletoads in there, and games like Halo, TF2, Battleborn and Overwatch are much younger.

If there's a Magolor reference in it I will do a frame-by-frame analysis of the entire movie**

i know this thread is 4 years old but

when he goes to the market he purchases a “holy hand grenade.” this is a reference to “monty python and the holy grail” but could technically be taken as a tf2 reference as well because of the lumbricus lid. i’m gonna go look through the big battle scene and see if I spot some tf2 cosmetics in there.

At first I thought it was a reference to the holy grenade from worms, the game of the little worms with weapons, but when I search on google images about this, the soldier from tf2 appears holding 2 of these grenades, is it a cosmetic from the game?

(posdata, hablo español y use el traductor de google, lo siento si no se entiende mucho XD)

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
