What pc is best for tf2
Not just pc, but parts. I dknt really care about other games, Im focusing prinarily on tf2. Im going to have to quit tf2 minus trade servers for about a year and a half until I get a new pc. What is the best setup for tf2?

Well, what's your budget?
newish PCs struggle with framerate at times because TF2 is too old, new PCs can probably already brute-force atleast 80FPS, older (2013-15) PCs should be atleast be +-60 FPS at all times, and 2010 below is due to it being from that time a mixed bag of what sitatuation you're in.

single thread performance is what matters most for tf2 by a long shot
high clockrate intel cpus or ryzen cpus with fast ram

graphics card is negligible, anything modern will perform about the same for tf2, so just get whatever suits other uses you would need

What he said.

Intel CPUs have the best single thread performance, though AMD's Ryzen would probably fine as well.

Graphics card is not that important for TF2. You could probably even get away with integrated graphics.

The absolute cheapest you could go for is a Ryzen 3 2200G. This CPU is actually an APU, and it actually contains a great integrated GPU (well, good for as far as iGPUs go). It can even run modern games fairly compentently. This should allow you to play TF2 at 60 FPS, though I imagine if you wanted to play at higher refresh rates like 144hz this APU wouldn't cut it.

My budget would probably be like $1200. I'm not sure what they normally go for. I could go higher, but would prefer not to

I can't do it now, but eventually.

And I consider 40 fps great, 80 is terrific.

I built a system for tf2 from research on TF2 benchmarks, My system http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/4568200 205.92 fps

You can get 200fps for that $1200.

I think he wants to play at maximum graphics, now go to rest or your alien precursor CPU might overheat.

that budget is fat
you could get a great tf2 rig for like 500 bucks
with that kind of cash you have a ton of options

While that is cool, i meant for you to take a break, since artificial intelligence uses quite alot of resources.

You want a new monitor with that set up as well? With that money, you can think of running the game at 144fps with a 144hz monitor.

Here's what I recommend for that budget:

This is actually overkill for TF2, and it should play modern AAA games very comfortably (I am talking medium settings or better at at least 60 FPS or higher, for the most part).

For TF2, this should run the game at a locked 144 fps, with only occasional dips below that (and a performance config would probably eliminate that).

Right now I use a standard HP Notebook, so I would need a new everything.

I appreciate all these suggestions, I will certainly keep them in mind.

TF2 literally still runs decently on my old potato PC with Windows XP still on it
