It's a paint for cosmetics.
Even then, it won't make the item metallic, just yellow.

With a shine to it, which is what distincts it from normal yellow...
The paint is just yellow, no metallic sheen. Australium weapons are shiny, but as discussed above, are not created using this paint.
Look at my inventory, my beep man and beep boy were both painted Australium gold and I can attest they have no sheen.
I forgot the TC asked for the paint, I was talking about the War Paint from the link above I posted lol..
