Pyro mains suck at the game and they are not ashamed to admit it.
Of course, this does not apply to 100% of pyros, but it applies to the overwhelming majority.

So, pyro is the second easiest class to start off with (right after heavy), is very appealing to new players, has a stupid amount of crutch weapons and fairly powerful against very new players.

Pyro has no special mechanics that are needed for his gameplay. He has airblasing and comboing, which are both easy to do. Pyro's flames are designed in such way so they don't punish horrible aim. The shotgun is easy to aim with, and even that can be replaced with other, easier weapons to use. Pyro with 100 hours is not much different from one with 20.

Pyro is appealing to new players because he has an incredibly low skill requirement and is not being punished enough for bad gameplay. Pyro is also not as boring as other classes at the beginning level.

Pyro has the backburner that is mostly used like stock by most pyros, it just crits when the enemy is trying to run away, it also has a downside that affects airblasting which is something a lot pyros don't even use, so it is a direct upgrade to them.
The scorch shot rewards you for missing and relies solely on afterburn. The blast radius is wide enough for it to take 0 aim.
The phlog is basically the backburner but 10 times worse, it is just wm1, g, wm1. I think this one is obvious enough.
The neon annihilator is used pyros on maps that have water in them so they can get cheap, bs kills that they never deserved to get. The weapon adds nothing to the game, it is random and frustrating.

Everything is powerful against newer players, but wm1 can be done even when you are a newer player.


Pyro has been subjected to stereotypes since the game was released, always having the mostly true, bad player stereotype. Pyros know they are going to be called bad, and they don't care, because they know it's true.

Connection is average, maybe above average on a good day meanwhile as for his range the flames are VISUALLY ENGULFING THEM and don't get hit for more than 2 ticks of damage.
