Why is the Ubersaw so overrated?
Medic mains of the world. Ask yourselves. How many times have you ever hit someone that wasn't a disguised Spy (FYI they don't give Uber at all) and lived to tell the tale (and popping the Uber to escape does not count, you still waste it and have to restart)? At best, once or twice a match. Now, take into consideration how long it took to reach out and hit them, and how many times you got killed by overextending and have had to restart from 70%. I know that it sounds awesome on paper, but it simply isn't worth it. Especially considering that if you ever manage to find a target weak enough to go down in one hit before killing you, there is a good chance he will just kill bind to deny you the charge.

Now, also think how many times you got killed by attempting to run away from a Scout or Pyro, and see on the killcam that he only had a slew of health. How many times half of your team has died to afterburn without you being able to do anything about it, or how many times you yourself have barely been unable to reach out a medkit in time.

Please, put the Ubersaw away, and give a chance to the consistency of the Solemn Vow and the Amputator. Your team will appreciate it.

I mean, there are more useful choices... Some medics tend to use this, I never get it why. Maybe someone can explain it to me.

Amputator
I personally use this when I can't rely on health packs and/or the enemy is just plain good. I only use it for the extra health through. The taunt could be useful, but doing that will basically get you killed 50% of the times. In 6v6 I would use this, simply because of the regeneration.

Solemn Vow

Vita-Saw
It's a more riskier and less rewarding choice than the Ubersaw. Basically that's all I can say.

Ubersaw
Where the Ubersaw really shines: casual, maybe highlander. Basically: More players - More chance of using this weapon. In 6s, it can save an entire match, but that's very unlikely, because as a medic: If you get targeted by atleast 2 players, you are absolutely almost certainly dead.

(My experience)

nah it's the other weapons that are not good.
How many times have you died being stuck in a static position taunting with the amputator? Probably just about as often as you die trying to hit someone with an ubersaw.

I'll stick to my Ubersaw.

Because it's good
if a enemy gets too close then that's a easy 25% uber gain

Vitasaw got needed cause it was too good. Ubersaw is now even better if you do end up in a life/death situation with a melee out

You could save Uber, or get full Uber and yeet away to your team and come back full force

Absolutely never, mostly because you are supposed to use it when the other team is dead or safely in a corner near the chokepoint your team is pushing through, just like any Heavy does when eating his lunchbox of choice. Plus, any hit strong enough to put me in danger knocks me out of the taunt letting me reposition anyway.

Not to mention that it's main utility is softening damage and making you less reliant on medkits. The taunt I use it about 3 times a match at most, typically after a phlog Pyro rushes in and suicides near the Sentry to burn everyone, or whenever we want to push through a small corridor without having to waste an Ubercharge prematurely.

And let me tell you, I have seen WAY more medics being demolished by the Heavy they charged into.

Because its downsides are a complete joke

You could nerf it many times and people will still use it.

Because it’s simply have more influence outcome in the game than other melee.

The Ubersaw has 25% uber on hit, how could you not pass that up?

There just aren't any valid alternatives, no other melee matches the power of free uber on hit

Ubersaw has 99% chance to crit
