MacOS 10.15 Catalina Support for TF2

Hello,

I am looking at upgrading my Mac mini to 10.15 (MacOS Catalina) but am aware that TF2 as well as parts of Steam may lack 64-bit support on MacOS (at least as of a few months ago). I am unsure if that has changed since.

I wanted to find out if anyone has attempted to update to MacOS Catalina and run TF2 with any success, or if anyone is aware of a workaround?

You need a bigger CPU than Processor: 1.7 GHz this is a old System Requirements

What CPU do you have exactly? Determining a CPU's performance by GHz is an obsolete method of measurement. If your processor was made in the last 5 years and has at least two cores, chances are it can run TF2. The thing holding you back will be your graphics processor.

no, no, any CPU running at 1.6ghz is going to be a disappointment in tf2

I can now say that TF2 is playable on OSX Catalina, using PlayOnMac. Some textures do not work properly (like water and some other transparent ones) but it is playable. Also, so far I have not been able to make my friends list work.

Bought an asus. straight upgrade. didn’t bother to figure out how to play tf2 on mac. mac gay

Move to Linux and stop buying overpriced apple products, seriously, a 600 kwid windows PC from some chinese brand could outperform a 1200 kwid MacOs rig, the only good thing about MacOs is the software it provides and even then its way more cost and performance efficient to just clone it onto a VM on a arch linux device.

Linux is the superior OS, but if it didn't exist I'd still pick macOS over Windows any day.

Hi! I'm aware this might be late. I have an iMac that's dualbooted using Bootcamp (something Mac endorses); it has MacOS Catalina running on one side of the drive, and Windows 10 running on the other. It's completely free to use Bootcamp, and you can get a free windows 10 installation from the official Microsoft website. It took me a while to figure out how to set up but that's how I have my computer set to play Half Life.
