PSA: Strange Festive Scattergun or Festivized Strange Scattergun?

I'm making this PSA because I myself almost fell for it. But I didn't. Thankfully.

So there's a little series of scam attempts that may have been going around, particularly if you are selling items in the 10-15 key range. At least, that's how things have been for me.

The pattern is where people may send a trade offer where they offer what looks like a Strange Festive Scattergun. Example[imgur.com]

HOWEVER!

Note how 1), the item is labeled as a "Strange Scattergun." A REAL Strange Festive Scattergun would say "Limited Scattergun", due to festive weapons being found (unboxed) primarily during the holiday season. KEEP THIS IN MIND!

2), the description says "Festivized." This means that a festivizer was applied to the weapon, and that does not raise the value of the item! Festivized items are NOT always festive items!

I REPEAT, FESTIVIZED ITEMS ARE NOT ALWAYS FESTIVE ITEMS!

Please keep these two points in mind when you receive trade offers like such! Stay out of trouble.

Why does this matter? Because a strange scattergun is worth around 14-15 REF, while a strange FESTIVE scattergun (NOT FESTIVIZED!) is worth 16 KEYS. That's a big difference.

If you knew about this already, great! If you didn't, well, now you know.

This became common practice ever since they started allowing people to festivize weapons. Since the weapons don't look all that difference appearance wise, they bank off people making quick and poor decisions and hope they don't notice that it says festivized instead of festive.

Oh... Why is it even possible to add festivisers on weapons that can be festive in the first place?

I know some look a bit different, like Ubersaw, but whats with other "copies"?

And, yeah, HOW THE HELL do people fall for it?! Hasn't ther mommy told them to check trades 3 times over?

To be honest, I almost fell for it too (hence me making the post), but it's because some people think the other person's just being stupid and overpaying using some item they just so happened to have. But in reality it's not that simple. I think it's a matter of just underestimation.

As for festivizing festive weapons, I got no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue lmao

Tried to make festivized festive ubersaw. Didnt work sadly.

And so aIm trading with item holds. Didnt help me once, but its definitely harder to get f*cked like that.

Seems legit lol. Even if there's a Vintage Vintage Merryweather, I guess no Festive Festive weapons.

Nah, not really. I just enjoy lil jingle bells on ubersaw and wrapping on crossbow and sapper.. And there is no festivized shotgun and sanvich e tc iirc.

And these are the only 5 festive weapons I ever wanted and so have, tbh.

Edit: also got festivized kukri, but Its just cuz I got bouth strange kukri and killstreak kit drop. Why not make it glow?

You can festivize the shotgun. The festive ubersaw does look amazing though.

You can festivize the shotgun. The festive ubersaw does look amazing though.

Really? Rare? Ok. I heard they are kinda expensive... I traded most of them for some metal cards that I dont even remember, so maybe they are.

Got sandvich for strange sandvich downgrade somehow...
