Pyro Identity Confirmed (Guy Montag)
I am currently reading Fahrenhait 451 for class, and then I realized that Guy Montag, the main character, is the TF2 Pyro. In this fictional society, secrets are hidden from a society by banning books, all books found shall be burned, it is illegal to own or read books. People in this society do not seem "human", overdosing on sleeping pills, hurting each other, hating the idea of children, and being overly obsessive with technology. Guy Montag is a "fireman", but instead of putting out fires, he gets them starting to burn books, he is confused and disillusioned in this society he once called home, rebelling against all their rules by harboring and reading books to find out the "truth" about the world, not only about this society.

Guy Montag burns everything, just like the Pyro

Guy Montag is confused and disillusioned in this society, just like Pyro is in TF2, living in "Pyroland"

Guy Montag claims he is "happy", but feels like nobody is listening to him, the Pyro is always happy, whether it be during taunts or his groans and shrieks, but once again, nobody listens to him because all they hear are muffled mumbles which no one can interpret.

Absolutely love that book, and just re-read it for the second time. I was thinking of making a graphic novel based off of it, and definetley saw the links between him and Pyro. I'll be sure to include some references. :)

I will be honest. Ray Bradbury's book is confusing...but rather interesting.

Oh, definetly. Ray Bradbury has a very confusing style of writing, but the concept was very interesting.

I actually made that joke on a "Pyro's Gender" thread a few days ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if Valve based the Pyro's design on Guy Montag, as his helmet is described as a "Black, beetle-like mask", which is similar to the Pyro's face.

Maybe it was never books he was burning

That old lady was clearly a metaphor for F2P sniper noobs.
