How much did TF2 cost when it was originally released?

I was 5 when it was released and didn't know anything about video games and ♥♥♥♥ (or how to read a commercial), and now I'm trying to use the price to justify a review site that requires reviewers to have bought the game. I'm using the website for a research paper in my English class, and if anyone could help me out here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Valve made half life which was a hit then made TFC which was also a hit then CS which was a huge hit then Day of Defeat which was a hit (sort of), and then there was TF2 which was obviously a hit, so since Valve is a huge company with so many games which blew the players' and critics' minds. It probably costs a lot of money. But there was no individual copy, all I know is the orange box I believe which is at a 40-80 dollar range?

It was $50 when it was included in the Orange Box, I believe.
