Direct hit unbalanced?
Now, please read this thread before you start commenting "lmfao go die noob you only have 800 hours on TF2 ROFL go kill yourself" while playing 'Adopt and Raise a Cute Baby' on 'ROBLOX'.

(oh god, I can already sense someone using hours as an insult, then never contributes to this thread)

(I also find it cringy that people don't know basic mathematics. 895* rounds up to 900)

I'm in no way saying the direct hit is overpowered (well...it is a bit, but not completely). I'm simply suggesting that some changes should be made.

First of all, pretty much any soldier with 400+ hours can somewhat hit a direct rocket with stock. Not like airshots or anything, just a direct rocket, like a normal one. This is why I find the direct hit's projectile speed unnecessary. You're pretty much giving players an easier way to directly hit people, and then reward them with extra damage for nothing.

What do you guys think? Should I go kill myself?

you gain 1v1 ability at the loss of dealing with groups of players fair play and have fun with a good scout

Soldier also has a shotgun, something Scout can't dodge. And in the event you can aim the direct hit, one rocket massacres Scout.

You just said that a weapon was unbalanced. While I do think that everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, ya gotta remember these are the forums. A place of absolute chaos.

Watch Zenomites's video if you want a detailed explanation but it's a risk vs reward weapon, and it rewards skill over floor spam, airshots and close encounter directs over corner spam. Now would I like to see a version that rewards distance shots with stock-ish up close damage while keeping minicrits on airshots yes but the direct hit in the current version of the game is one of the more balanced weapons.

Eh... I could strongly disagree with you.
The Direct Hit pumps out enough damage that even in less-than-skilled hands can massacre classes that Soldier usually has trouble with.
Pyro? Gone.
Heavy? Dead.
Sentries? Obliterated.
The thing I hate the most about it is the fact it's damage is so incredible too. 125%? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. 115% would be perfect.

Stay out of his killbox, make him tilt and goof up his aim if you're a light class or simply just run away to fight another day. And if you're a heavy main out damage him or well die.

Runing the shot gun means you have to give up a every usefull team utility (conch, battalion backup ect, or a great asset to your self (gunboats))
With the direct it kinda puts all the secondaries up to be used instead of the stockboatsplan

First how would you know what that is ^^^^ also the direct hit is balanced-ish. If you find a pleb that cant aim they will attempt to use it as melee. If they can aim gud luck. Time to learn how to airblast. Also most of the time when i play casual i see someone spamming it in close range, so just keep distance, and if they rocket jump hopfully you will be able to predict and be able to air shot. (they rocket jump to git close). Also most who can't aim bring a shot gun with them.

Side note the direct hit teaches soliders to aim, and attempt to git airshots. The main reason im defending because i do pretty well with it with the airshots, so take this with a tad of salt

What does this have to do with anything, especially since you've used yours as an insult yourself? Are you just trying to sound smart?

Anyway, DH's easy to use. Only thing it really does is mess up with your muscle memory, and its small splash radius makes it usually less reliable on overall gameplay

You gotta remember that Scout has one of the best close range weapons as well, douple jump and high speed, so against notrash-scout even hitting shotgun shots can be hard, while Scout can more easily hit his shots due to Solly's slow movement speed.

In my opinion those are incredibly situational utilities. If you have even a somewhat competent medic those are outclassed in every single way by a medigun. An ubercharge beats the back-up, kritz is better than the banner and the quick-fix is better than the boats.

If you are running the Direct Hit, you absolutely need the shotgun. The reduced splash area leaves you vulnerable, its easy enough to dodge and without a damage dealing secondary you can be outclassed by anyone who can predict where your line of fire is. Without a medic, I do agree those can be very useful.

As for the OP, I agree with Geck. Very high risk, high reward weapon that rewards skill over spam. The weapon is pretty well balanced compared to some of the other weapons in the game. Also, here is the video Geck mentioned: https://youtu.be/xz7Z0VXt-3o

Actually, Zenomite's videos are very informative and well worth the watch. It's a damn shame he stopped making TF2 videos.

the Direct Hit's catch is that the smaller projectile radius also makes it much harder to hit people ideally, even for great soldier mains. and even when they do it, they can't just wipe whole teams with a lucky crit, it takes multiple surgical strikes to eliminate a team.
