-You can choose what weapon you want to put the paint on
-36 contracts available immediately
-You can repaint weapons with older skins too

well, you see, you will get war paints like you could get skins.
and you can use these war paints to paint any of 40 weapons (not listed) and any of them that you choose.
these weapons will not be ones from you inventory.

so, you can craft items with war paints to skin them?

No, actually. You choose a weapon to put the war paints on, and the game will generate a new weapon for you.

So, say you want a skinned Flare Gun, but you don't have a normal Flare Gun. That doesn't matter, you can still use the War Paint to get a skinned Flare Gun. If that makes any sense.

no...
when you want to apply a war paint, it will apply it to a new weapon that you choose, and it can be any of the forty weapons it says, and you can have it on any weapon you want, even if you dont have it in your inventory

War Paints are separate skins you can apply to an existing weapon or create a skinned weapon directly without using it on another weapon.

Remember to note the Paints come in cases that're locked and randomized requiring keys and luck to get certain paints. They also come in conditions (Factory New, Battle-scarred etc.) as well as Unusuals and Strange.

Personal advice, wait a month or two to buy unlocked paints separately on the Steam Market. There will be relatively dirt-cheap unlocked paints available when the hype's died down.

-when uncrating, you get to CHOOSE your skin
-you can get skins from contracts
-older skins are becoming "War Paints"
-basically just uncrating a regular weapon skin, but you get to choose what weapon it goes on, most likely how you unbox crates
-war paints have a chance to be unusual and/or strange

Contracts also drop "Blood Money" that can be used to open skin crates.

Only the cosmetic cases require keys, in which your logic makes sense.

-Dry Ice.
No. War paints generate a new item.

funny thing is, is that the regular flare can't have war paints, which kinda sucks
