What is the TF2 timeline set now?

Valve said tgat TF2 plays in the late 60's - early 70's. But I'm quite sure that there must have been years passed both in real life - of course - and in the game's timeline.

So what do ya say, when is TF2 takes place NOW?


and no, forget the comics. we're talking mostly of the time difference between valve's timeline and this current one and the game design NOW

small spoilers:
1968 was the Gravel wars (RED vs BLU)

1971 was the events of (Helltower and...(?) ) MvM as Redmund and Blutarch gets murdered and Gray tries to take over Mann co.

early 1972: Gray's "daughter" (quotes due to the fact that I find this fishy) finally takes over Mann co as Saxton Hale refused to fight her, Administrator flees with the Australium and Team Fortress disbands

late 1972 ( 6 months later) : Pauling recieves a message to find and reunite the mercs, thus leaving up to the events of the comics (issues 1 to 7)

The time era you play in the game depends on the game mode you choose to play.

Well the latest event happens in 7039 and the first "event" happens in 1680, but neither of them are important.


Also apparently the blue team was originally comprised of Billy the Kid, Stonewall Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Alfred Nobel, John Henry, Nikola Tesla, Sigmund Freud, Davy Crockett, and Fu Manchu. For some how.

Now to think of it, its kinda wierd to see that Sniper is younger than I expected... around 5 - 7 years older than Scout... I honestly expected him to be have at least 20 years difference with Scout...
