TF2 keeps freezing every minute for a few seconds despite low ping

I have had this issue since before the pyro update but I feel like it's gotten worse.

every minute or so my game will just freeze but only for 2 or 3 seconds before going back to normal. This happens very frequently making the game unplayable. I have tried lowering graphics settings but that did not help. My ping in these situations always remains at 40-50 so that can't be it.

Please help. I really want to play the game but this issue makes it unplayable.

Did you install any config for tf2? Maybe the config change your network settings. You can try typing -autoconfig in the set launch options to reset tf2 settings but make sure you remove everything in your cfg folder and turn off steam cloud for tf2 first.

I've never used a custom config before so that can't be it but thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have too high graphics settings? My game lags when a lot of the new flamethrower particles are on my screen, maybe same with you

Have your tried capping your fps. I think I remember reading that if you fps is really high it can mess up tf2.
