Can't inspect decorated items from market/inventories while TF2 is running

I've recently come across an issue that I can't inspect items in-game while TF2 is running.

For example, let's say I want to inspect a decorated scattergun I found on the market. Usually, I would be able to click the "Inspect in Game"button and if I had TF2 running, it would open an inspection window (Is that the right term? idk) and you can look at it and rotate it. If TF2 wasn't running, it would just launch TF2 and do the same thing from there.
BTW I've tried inspecting from Scrap.TF skin bots, my own inventory, and others' inventories.

Now, I'm able to inspect the decorated weapon in game if I TF2 wasn't running at the time that I clicked the inspect button; it would launch and open the inspection window. But if TF2 was running, it would do nothing but print "CClientSteamContext OnGameJoinRequested tf_econ_item_preview" in the console.

Am I the only one with this issue? I assume it's an issue with Steam and not TF2, since Steam updated and TF2 hasn't. So maybe the problem is also happening with CS:GO, but I can't really test that out 'cause I don't have it.

Anyway, just wanted to know if this was just a problem with just me or for everyone.

I sometimes have a similar issue. Try clicking the inspect button again

If you mean click it multiple times with varying time intervals (I've tried clicking it rapidly, every couple of seconds, etc), then that still doesn't work for me.

Oh well, seems like it's just me with this issue, I'll look into my files to see if there's something up with it.

I do have an autoexec file set and a few launch options (I've tried disabling the autoexec and the launch options but the in game inspection still didn't work).

Other than that and some workshop maps, I don't have anything custom in my game. All I know is that the bug began after a Steam update on Saturday I believe.

I verified integrity of game files and it did nothing.

Anyway, I'll be messing with my files. I'll post if I found a solution.

Well, I'm just glad I don't need to risk screwing up my files by altering them to fix this.

Well I have the exact same problem! I cna't expect ANYTHING. I can only inspect war paints but thats it, no cosmetics and no skins. And the problem exists since the Pyro Update so I guess thats the reason why it's not working anymore. And i must say that this problem is bigger than expected because you can't see what you trading for etc. Hopefully this is getting fixed soon.

I actually forgot to post the solution I had when I had this issue (It's now fixed for me), but you can inspect skins by clicking the "Inspect Ingame" link when TF2 is not running. Doing so will launch TF2 and display the skin.

I think I stopped having the problem after a TF2 update, so I don’t think I did anything to fix it. I would suggest doing research on whatever was printed in the console.
