Team Fortress 2

A TF2 movie?
Yeah......no, it's not in development.

In my previous thread, Thoughts on TF2, I kept suggesting something that Valve needs to do to bring TF2 back to prominence.
Balancing the game is a good start. Better communication with the community also helps. Releasing the Pyro update might just bring most of TF2's former players back. Any other suggestions could also help.
But more than anything gameplay related, I feel that TF2 needs to have a movie made. Not only to expand its' fanbase, but to remind the whole world of just how unique a game it is.

Now, unlike other video game movies, which are colossal disasters, I think Team Fortress 2 has the potential to make a movie that's not just a hit, but also one of the greatest films ever made, period.

In order for this to happen, Valve will need to step out of its' doors and seek help from another company. They've already announced that they're making Half Life and Portal movies in collaboration with Bad Robot Productions (J.J. Abrams's production company). Valve can do the same with TF2. All they have to do is seek out a deal to make it with Pixar.

Now before you comment, hear me out on this one.

Team Fortress 2 seems a lot like if Pixar made an FPS game. It has a retro animation style, dark and surreal humor, unique and relatable characters, and even a moral of friendship and teamwork, all of which are Pixar trademarks. TF2 is really just Toy Story with guns.

So, now that I've made my big reveal on what the game needs to make a comeback, I wanna open up discussion again and see what people think of this idea.

A few reasons.
First off, the setting of TF2 (in the 1970's) would give it a very unique style that hasn't been done in film or even in games (aside from TF2 itself, that is). But that's just the style part. Now let's move on to substance.
Second, the characters of TF2 are very unique. I don't think there's another IP (either in film or games) that has characters quite like TF2 has. That would be a refreshing breath of air for auidences.
And third, the part that Pixar says is king, the story. Combine the action and humor that TF2 is known for and mix in some good, relatable morals and social commentary (like in Terminator 2), that would make it a real killer. Most Disney movies aren't known for having storylines and mroals that the audience can see themselves in, which Pixar usually does.
Put all those together, and you've got a very unique and substantial film that combines the best of Pixar and Valve. The best of action, storytelling, humor, and even a little drama.

Here is second problem.Story.
You want movie based on game, which kinda don't have SP or based on comics which will be kinda not related to game itself?
Or make a new story like in Assassin's Creed movie?
You need to choose will you do new story for a movie or keep story from comics..and game.
This will be a new story entirely. It should be in the same universe as the comics, but it shouldn't conflict with them either.
Now, that said, it would be confusing to those who are not familiar with the game, but I think there's a way to make it easy for those unfamiliar to learn, while not being expositional for those who are familiar.

Ehh...
I feel like it's a bit too late to make movie about this game.

I don't think so. It took The Simpsons almost 20 years to make their movie, and it turned out well, AND at a time when the series was declining.
Now, unlike that, I think the game should stay popular and relevant after it comes out.

And what way would it be?
Easy. In the comics, Saxton Hale invented a technique: Explosition. Exposition in a very funny way. That would be how to explain the story for the newcomers.

A movie might work, but it would be best to base it around MvM or the comics.cOnly issue is with that there needs to be backstory, and the Gravel War didn't have enough backstory to make much sense in the theaters.

Going back to Saxton Hale, he could make a brief "explository" mention of it, like in the catch up comic. It would reveal the backstory, while also providing laughs for the fans.

I Don't even feel that. Like..that 70's setting it's just..boring.Games and movies prefer 60's,like Black Ops or Operation U.N.C.L.E.
Don't worry about that. I know a lot about 1970's settings. I listen to a lot of 70s music, I watch 70s shows, I know a lot of events that happened in that time. I can make the 1970s setting very interesting.

So what you are going to make a movie?I don't think so.
Try me. I've had some ideas for a while now.
Granted, not a finished script, but I have some ideas that, if fleshed out, could be a real killer.

What? Hell no. If this happens, Valve would just get the original voice actors back.

It'd be better to animate it.

I'd sure like to see it.
I'm a no movie director.
But this can be interesting to read.

Yep. AND in Source Filmmaker, to capture the essence of the game.
