Of course, the devs dropped all of that out of a 50-story building window as soon as cosmetics became a thing
2017: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BANANA WITH CATS LICKING ON YOU WITH ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MARIO DEW DEW DO ♥♥♥♥♥♥ DEW DO THE MARIO
- Fits the character/class it's for
- Makes sense within the time period of TF2 (late 60's early 70's)
- Fits the TF2 aesthetic, a balance between realistic and cartoony
- Makes sense within the culture of TF2.
Take the Towering Pillar of Hats. Its a great hat. On any class it can look good. In the TF2 look it does not stick out like a sore thumb it fits in, and the best part is that the hat itself is a jab at TF2 culture.
The hat's premise makes fun of the stereotype that all TF2 players care about is hats. It basically says "Hey why settle for 1 hat when you can wear 3 hats at once, more hats = more fun." If you look at it that way then the Towering Pillar of Hats contains a pretty clever injoke. As if the Valve was predicting the over the top hats the future would hold.
Also I just noticed what unusual trading has done to me. I once had a BP worth over 16 keys. Now it's just over 9. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate unusuals and the way trading works with them.
Uncommon opinion: So do unusual effects, even more so. I'd more expect to see a mercenary wearing a lime green banana head than have his hair on fire.
