Team Fortress 2
How useful will pogo jumps be in real games?
I have been recently playing jump maps to improve my rocket jumping abilities. I have a friend who has way more time then me in the game, who claims all you really need is basics of strafing and rocket jumping. He also said you don't have to learn pogos because you cant perform some in normal games and you'll be fine with the basics. Is this true or should i learn pogos too?

Very important for rollouts and bombing run soldiers

You want to play competitive? You bet your ass you need to perform some rollouts if you want to have a head start during games

The only jump that isn't useful in an actual match are synced double rocket jumps. Even then, those help with timing and overall jumping.

To play competitive you will absolutely need to know how to pogo jump. It will also be helpful if you know how to rocket jump to save yourself from fall damage, as fall damage hurts you more than rocket jumping with gunboats

Performing those rollouts like the upward ones require pogos

I know, I'm talking about sync jumps where you jump in the air, and as your falling, shoot another rocket then before you hit the ground shoot another rocket, so you get blasted up by 2 rockets.

While it's extremely fun to do and it's fun to market garden, you don't need to know how to do that to rollout or bomb in

Those really extreme jumps, I Don think are useful. Hell, wall jumping (vertically) is useless af

Those are speedshots, not pogos.

Pogos are useless outside of jump maps op.

I know, which is exactly why I said that's one of the not useful jumps.

???
Pogoing increases your forward speed allowing you to rollout quicker

How is that useless?

I can do 3 rollouts. The 2 on upward and the one on sawmill. I don't like competitive in this game. Atleast the valve implemented one.

Sawmill ??? Sawmill isn't in competitive, for good reasons, mastering that rollout isn't very useful...

Play community competitive, where players are actually experienced and care.

No he's not

Not being able to do rollouts on a single 5 cp map isn't good at all.

demo air/pogos are useful on almost any map with open space
speedpogos on soldier are used on process rollouts and can be applied to most maps with ramps to use
