Oops I meant hop

bunny hop. it can increase your speed but its so slight is unnoticieable

Bunnyhop but only a little
And you have chance to look like an idiot while trying to do that

Bunnyhopping, but it will barely be noticeable.

I've noticed that bunny hopping greatly increases your speed in games like FF or TFC. Though the replies say that you do become faster, I see no difference at all..

bhopping in tf2 consistently is pretty hard to do, you probably should not waste time with
tho it can get you in pretty sweet spots you otherwise couldn't reach
Any examples? I'm actually curious with the topic, I'd like to see a speed comparison..

Bhop in tf2 in my opinions are useless.

I have this video, tho probably now it's quite obsolete since spy base speed got buffed
nothing stops you from trying with other classes tho ;)

Very interesting, clears up a lot of misconceptions in my early days as a TFNewb.

Is bunny hopping just jumping repeatedly or is strafing needed?

you know, macro scripting is a thing

Typically frowned upon, some may say that it takes away the bit of skill needed to consistently perform it. Same goes with explosive jumping though they're quite different..

dont people like bind their jump button to their scroll wheel so it makes bunnyhopping easier?

It's really hard to bunnyhop with TF2's physics.

Unless you're coming out of a jump from a low angle and just keep hopping like that.

(TF2's physics is different because you can't accelerated backhop like you can in other source engine games, excluding later games like CSGO, Portal 2, and both Left 4 Deads)

Performing frame perfect (or near perfect for worse results) hops with good strafing left then right midair in between can amount for a ~20% (that's only an estimate) increase in your absolute speed and ~10% faster in terms of actual travel (since you move on a wiggly, longer path). I am throwing a rough estimate, but it shouldn't be too far off. Doing this less perfectly strafe speed wise tends to be at the range of 5% travel increase, which is still rather nice.

It's probably possible to shorten the actual path by switching from right strafe to left strafe mid-jump, so with more and more rapid wiggles it might be possible to reach the ~20% increase for the actual travel speed.

I regularly try those, it gives a nice boost and I can regularly outspeed equal-movement-speed classes that just walk on the rollout. Strange why it's not seen as much on pro level. By the way, I don't use a mousewheel-spam for jumping, meaning I can actually do this on Scout as well, and better people must be capable too.

yes but you have to do frame perfect jumps in a online server
so actually trying to do them is very inconsistent

It can be done semi consistently actually. It's not VERY inconsistent at all.
