just look at the scotsmans skillcutter.
Besides Claymore RiP Claymore
- Why couldn't they add a stat to every shield he can equip (charging target, splendid screen, tide turner) to remove any random critical hit from any swords equipped and leave the random crits to any sword without any of the shields -
because its just way easier to remove random crits on the "knight" weapons than to modify the shields to have longer codes
Adding random crits isn't a good idea when you have shields and good melees.
Demoknight has a shield.
The Shield has the charge mechanic; a skill indexed ability which Mini-crits if you use 25% of the charge, and Crits if you use 75% or more.
This encourages you learn to gage the distance and get good at the charge; and is overall, a skill indexed weapon.
Demoknight's swords also have double melee range, and melee weapons have a higher natural crit chance. Most of Demo's swords also have some kind of plus (More health and movement for the Eyelander; full health on kill plus overheal for the Half-Zatoichi, Charge gained for the Persian Persuader) so if these weapons had Random Crits still; they would be OP as ♥♥♥♥, allowing Demos to literally cut people down left and right never dying and not even being fair in the slightest. The only counter would be a Sentry, and Demos could always Half-Knight at that point; so even that wouldn't work.
If you want more proof; the Scotsman's Skullcutter is the only Demoknight weapon without a gimmick; it does more damage; that's it. And it's the only one that still has random crits. Play on Medieval mode, and everyone will hate you if you use it, because it's insanely unfun to fight in that setting. In the main game; it's offset by it's slow movement speed weakness, but in Medieval mode where it really doesn't matter at all? OP weapon for sitting on the point.
This is why Demos swords don't get crits. The Stock Bottle, Paintrain and Scotsman's Skullcutter do; use them if you prefer random crit gambling to skill.
The Chargin' Targe is the defensive shield; it resists the most damage and encourages passive playstyles. It's better for getting into the attacking team, and it's charge should be used for retreats. Since it tanks so much damage, it allows you to help the team push the offense back more.
The Splendid Screen is the offensive shield. Since it's power raises the more heads you get; allowing it's shield bash/crit swing to even one shot a heavy; if used properly it can be an amazing tool for raids.
Finally: The Tide Turner is the movement oriented shield. It's better suited for getting around enemies and trying to avoid conflict until you're ready. Since your charge gets drained while being attacked and you can only mini-crit; it's more suited for picking off retreating foes; or ambushing enemies from behind.
you could've not quoted me tho to not cause any confusion :v
Oh, the swords. Yeah. The swords are kinda a mixed bag; because they are ALL oriented towards offense. The Eyelander is a high risk/high payoff, the Half-Zatoichi is a kamikaze reward weapon, and the Persian Persuader just lets you charge again and again.
Yeah, it would be nice if they added a sword that resisted damage instead; maybe Right Clicking could let you deflect a Melee attack or something? That would be nice.
Claymore?
