[RESEARCH] Your TF2 FPS
Im not redoing this anytime soon
What is your average FPS on TF2?
If you can, also specify if you have a FPS config and, what settings you put the game at and what your system specifications you use. There is also a Benchmarking Program for TF2[www.teamfortress.tv], in case you want to know the most accurate FPS results on your PC.

I am doing this to conduct a research on TF2 players, and also help other people who are trying to build a PC for TF2 (and most likely other games as well). TF2's optimization is, some might say, hazardous. So getting a new PC and expecting a high framerate isn't so often

How do I find my FPS?
Well, slight plan change. I'm now only taking results that use the benchmarking program (see above and below). So if you recorded your normal in-game FPS on say a normal Badwater match, then i'm afraid I can't take that into this thread.

I'm aware it's a necro, but if this place is going to try and create one of these, I may as well help to improve it

Please ignore all methods of gathering FPS stated by the OP. net_graph fluctuates far too hard to ever get an accurate reading and recording software like Fraps uses CPU power and therefore drops just by nature. Source already has a simple, reliable and stable way of getting an accurate framerate reading from you in a real game scenario:

Timedemo.

What the timedemo command does is review a demo whilst calculating your framerate throughout the playback, then print it to console once it's done. An example reading would be:

2639 frames 15.886 seconds 166.12 fps ( 6.02 ms/f) 7.576 fps variability

Very little of that information is relevant to the average user, but the fact it provides a static, stable and consistent reading makes it far better than cl_showfps or net_graph (Which hilariously drop framerates themselves, even if not by much).

The one downside to this is that to have consistent readings, everyone has to use the same demo for benchmarking. The one that's generally used is here[www59.zippyshare.com], although being a public file hosting service (Zippyshare) I'm not sure if the link will be removed or not. We'll have to find some other way to distribute it if not.

Either way, it's a fairly standard, fairly short demo with a lot going on in it, and therefore allows you to get a good reading of your FPS during a lively scenario in-game.

If it does show up, here's how to do it:

1. Download the demo provided

2. Extract the demo to the tf folder, found at (Steam\SteamApps\common\team fortress 2\tf)

3. Boot up TF2

4. Make sure nothing's running that's resource heavy and will chew up your framerate

5. Put this in console:

timedemo benchmark1

6. Let the demo play in full (It's only around 20-30 seconds, so don't worry), then copy and paste the results to this thread alongside any other relevant information, like FPS configs used and system specs.

Doing this lets you get a much more accurate reading, and even compare performance with different configs, dxlevels or settings enabled.

How do I find my System Specifications?
Download Speccy[www.piriform.com] because i'm too lazy to explain each method on each OS. Copy & Paste what it says on the "Summary" page

Gathered Information
Note: Maxed settings may or may not be Anti-Aliasing. Also FPS may not be accurate as some people record their FPS in situations where it doesn't stress the CPU a lot (Which is why benchmarking it via the benchmarking program above may be useful)

I'm going to guess the i7 6700 is actually an i7 6700HQ, as it was paired with a GTX 960M, a laptop GPU.
Most likely, I will run through my specs again when I get the chance.

I ususally get a solid 60 fps, but sometimes TWC cheaps out on me and it goes from 60 fps to 2 to 60 to 2 and back again.
