Collectors item kill feed
How should we make collectors items actually viable rather than just red text? What can we do to make these weapons show up in the kill feed

Stranges usually cost from 1.55 ref to 10 ref for most items. Collector's items usually cost multiple keys. Stranges have the added effect of tracking kills, while collector's items do not. The fact that these obscenely expensive items are hardly noticable is not good.

Stranges don't get a special kill feed thing, so why should Collector's?
because strange items does atleast something, which is counting kills/points.
Collectors don't do ANYTHING worth while.

Hey, what about making certain parts of the weapon's model dark red? Such as the wood on some weapons being a dark red wood.
I like that idea. If I remember correctly, Valve mentioned the idea of skins on non-stock weapons, so maybe this could be part of that feature.

"several keys"
Bit more than that
Collectors Big Mann = around 74 keys

Neither do Genuines or Vintages.

maybe make the username and the weapon's image (if credited the kill) have a team-colored glow, or the killstreak sheen if specialized or professional killstreak, similar to how crits have a red glow and australiums have a yellow glow (for a red team or a Team Shine killstreak effect when on red team, the red should be brighter than a crit glow)

I think they should add different, more extravagant kill feed icons for collector's weapons. That would incentivise some players to try to get more of them because we all know how much we like getting noticed in this game.

TF2: It doesn't matter whether you win or lose, as long as you have a flashy hat/weapon/etc.

I personally own 0 Collector's items. I just think that they should at least be fairly noticable in-game.

They do. Red text instead of whatever it was before.

The entire point of this thread is that the red text is hardly noticable. Cody was using slight hyperbole to get his point across.

The only reason Collector's items exists is so that Valve can make more money, looking at how the only thing a Collector's really does is add a shiny new "Collector's" to the name and have red text.
