Is Gamebanana an exposed Virus/Malware Website?
So, I was doing some searching for new reskins on my dead ringer and black rose for my spy, and I came across a website called Gamebanana that gave me a trojan virus and malware about two years ago. I decided to check it out, and use a website called virustotal.com to see if it was safe. Sure enough, these were the results:

The thing is, the actual file that comes with this malware site is virus free...

So, is this a safe website to download from? Because I'm stuck and don't feel like breaking a pretty good gaming PC.

It’s mostly safe, there are a few malicious uploads but for the most part it’s just people uploading mods for games. It’s fine. Don’t worry it’s a trusted modding site for many. I even occasionally go there for new hit sounds and HUDs. Just last month I downloaded a Reanimation mod that improves reload and firing animations, and a different one that turns scout’s FaN and Soda Popper animations into the Doom 2 super-shotgun reload animations. There’s a ton of cool stuff.

You got your malware from somewhere else. Probably a bad ad, if not something else.

For the most part it is safe, I have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of mods..

I have an adblocker, and used to have one. I can assure all that commented so far that I experienced no ads in the process of downloading a file the last time I used gamebanana.
Gamebanana, like all mod hosting site will have files somewhere that host malware. Often without the mod creator even knowing.

So what should I do, because right now if i "Copy Link..." the download button into VirusTotal it says it has malware. What do i do to avoid it?

Don't downlaod it.

Then, learn to skin, use a picture you saved in your memory(picture may have malware), and re-create it and share it on Steam or somwthing.

Hold up. Just turned off my adblocker to see if there was any possible problems, i may have hit the wrong download button and hit a malware add instead.

I remember seeing this thing where, if you click and hold a Download button and it moves around, then it's a fake Download button.

with google chrome you can move anything you want around, because it allows "easy copy/pasting" and crap like that.
