Is Heavy really a communist? I don't think so.
http://media.steampowered.com/apps/tf2/tf03_cold_day_in_hell/images/comic/1024x768/062.jpg

Heavy lives in Russia with his family. his family was hurt by some people. The soviet government hurt many people and in the comic frame you can see some sort of camp. I think that he lives off the grid for a reason. His family was hurt once by an evil government and so they live far from other people.

Let me know what you think.

He is an ambassador for the great sandvich republic.
By that logic then Demo is a gangbanging hoodlum and Medic's a Nazi.

he is communist but that doesn't obligate him to support a communist goverment.
Just because he lives in Soviet Russia doesn't make him a communist. Stalin made millions of Russians "disapear." I am open to the idea however that the people who hurt his family could have been nazis.
The soviets persecuted Christians especially. Could Heavy's dad have been a church leader? bit of a stretch I will admit. let me know if there is any information about Heavy's dad.

True, the heavy has never states that he is communist but by having a degree in russian litterature, a form or writing which comonly has communist undertones would make him more likely to align his views with communism, also he never has any ties to any other political party.

I don't think theres much if any info on the heavys dad either so your guess is as good as mine on that. For now atleast I dont think we can prove if heavy is or isn't communist till we know more about him, even with the knowledge we have about him now.

"It was also mentioned that the Heavy's father was a "counter-revolutionary" who was executed, and that his mother, sisters and himself were sent to a north Siberian Gulag in September 1941. The gulag was destroyed and all prisoners escaped in December of the same year."
Found on the wiki under trivia
I think the camp you can see is the gulag, which is like a forced-labor camp.
I mean, the Heavy has an array of Communist clothing and even a gun resembling it, the Iron Curtain. During 1941, the Soviet Union was being invaded by Nazi Germany, so it might have made more sense if they ended up in a Nazi Concentration camp, but the gulag was set to be in Siberia, and the Nazis never reached that far (except for Western Siberia, or near Finland sort of), also the Heavy doesn't show any hate to Stalin or other Commies, he never mentions it, so I think the Heavy is a Commie (because of his PhD's in Russian Literature, more so affiliated with Communism as the education system during the Soviet Union had a Communist agenda stuck to it) without the knowledge of his father being a "Counter-Revolutionary"

Just so you know, this is an old thread.

Also, the cosmetics and weapons in-game doesn't have any bearing on the game's story. They're just part of the gameplay aspect of TF2.

That, and not mentioning any hate towards communists doesn't really mean anything, and he never said he liked them. Plus, if I recall, this wasn't really discussed in the comics at all.

His father was a counter revolutionary to the USSR and his got killed because of it and heavy's family was sent to gulag before being burnt down
if i recall right Heavy's father was executed because he criticised Communism, so i asume so he is not the biggest fan.
in friendly servers yes, canonically no because he escaped a gulag with his family
Inb4 this gets locked "to avoid confusion"
