Converting demos to replays

Background:I have made, edited and uploaded replays. I have made, edited and rendered demos.

Now: What I want to be able to is convert a recorded demo to a replay and use it to attempt to earn the Home Movie achievement. The shots I want to do can only be done on Valve servers that don’t have Replay enabled.

It seems there was more interest in this 4-5 years ago. I have attempted to follow the Youtube method:

It didn’t work, but seemed to almost work. An issue seems to be that the file formats/syntax on my computer are not completely consistent with those shown in the video. I note that the TF2wiki instructions in “Help:Recording demos” are out of date with the Valve updates to the function, so maybe the video is also out of date.

I have also downloaded

but it won’t install/run on my computer (out of date, too?)

I heard rumors that there is away to upload movies to youtube and then backlink them to your TF2 or Steam account to count towards the Home Movie achievement.
