Red dot with sniper scope?? [CLOSED]
If there is a scope and a reticle what's the point of a red dot....is there any way to disable it? I can't see the opponent half the time because of that stupid dot that takes up half the scope space...

Edit::::: As of May 2017 it is still impossible to hide it.

The only possible (partial) fix, which works on a local server but not on most online servers:

Wat?
It's supposed to be there. No way to get rid of it. You can go to advanced settings to turn off the crosshair when you zoom in so you can aim with the dot if that helps you aim better. The purpose of the dot is to have other people see it so they know where you're aiming so they can get around you.

Its ment to show you how much your sniper has charged.

No, a GUI in the scope tells you that. I'm pretty sure its main purpose is to alert enemies, who can see the sniper dot.

What is there to kid? Is it seriously hard to understand why I would not want a red stain out of focus in my rifle scope (instead of the normal reticule, which instead you CAN disable) ? You could still have your red dot appear for opponents, while not having it disturbing in your scope.

The dot you see is not a part of the scope, but rather the dot your rifle makes on the surface you're aiming at. You cannot get rid of it, because it's a very important way of dealing with Snipers for enemy players.

It's really not that big, why is it so distracting to you?

It's purposely there to mark the Sniper's positioning and his point of aim. It reveals his position if you look closely enough, for balance purposes.

If you're talking about it being a hindrance in aim, seriously? Unless you're aiming up their nostril at extreme close quarters the dot's too small to notice. The only real solution is "get over it."

No the dot is really big sometimes, I didn't pay attention if it was related to the distance or what. Anyway of course I can get over it but maybe if there were a way to get rid of it, then why not?

Anyway....that link of the gamebanana thing....is it safe or will I get a ban? I didn't really play any VAC game other than left 4 dead, I don't want to risk.
Are you asking about whatever you use to aim when playing other classes. That can be disabled when using a scope in game options, to use the crosshairs. I use a small bright green circle outline when playing other classes, so I can see it against red or blue, or when background is dark or white.

The dot at your aim point that the other team sees is very tiny, I don't even think you see your own dot when playing sniper.
