Broken, Ripped sound
I don't know why but my sound is horribly broken. It sounds like complete crap, I don't even know how to call it but the game is unplayable. If anyone knows how to fix this pls help ;_;

Can you have task manager open and see what cpu % the game is using? I think by default the game tries to stream the audio from the disk instead of preloading it. High cpu usage could cause lag in reading it making it choppy.

Also if you have Firefox installed you can try running the game in there instead as a test. If you go to __________\Steam\steamapps\common\HiraganaBattle\www and open the index.html file it should launch in your default browser. But I think only Firefox allows it to work correctly without doing some tweaks.

After further testing I have something else you could try. If it is the streaming of audio that is causing the issue there is a way to preload all audio to hopefully fix the problem.

I uploaded a zip file containing a Preload Manager plugin and an edited plugin list for the game.
If you want to try it out it can be found on my dropbox.

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/830px6gd1ut79f0/AABqWUuEtZJnFBrX5kjgu7Bda?dl=0

Extract the contents to __________\Steam\steamapps\common\HiraganaBattle\www

It will ask to overwrite 1 file plugins.js to enable the plugin.

You will know if it is working if when you run the game you start seeing "Now Loading" screens. That's the game preloading the audio.

If you do try it let me know how it works out for you. And if you need to undo it you can just re-verify the game from within Steam to set things back to normal.

Thanks for that really indepth answer.
Im currently testing everything and the sound works pefectly fine inside firefox. I will try to use that plugin you uploaded and then i'll give you an update

Plugin does not help :/ Guess I've got to play via firefox
Kuro Sep 26, 2016 @ 5:48pm
Playing inside Firefox stores your save in its internet cache and not the normal save location. Just be careful not to wipe it or you could lose your save.

That's why I was hoping the plugin would have worked for you.

Hey, I have the same issue. Your dropbox only just has hiragana battle sound and not the modified plugin is there way to re-upload?
Kuro Dec 26, 2017 @ 5:46pm
Matallic, Sorry I lost the files but from what Kojot said they didn't help anyways. You can try my other solution which, while not ideal, did seem to work for Kojot. The only browser that worked with the game so far is Firefox. Though if you do play it like this don't clear your browsing cache/history as that's where it will be storing your saved game.

Firefox way works perfectly but, I'm trying to find the game save in the cache so I can continue progress from a game that is halfway through.

Sorry I don't know how Firefox saves the game or how to trasfer them. Looking in my cache I can't find anything related to the game. Though clearing the browsing history/cache does delete the save.

So I guess you have to decide if you want to continue your game with broken audio or start over.

Found out how to transfer saves! I put way more work than I should into this. If anyone thinks this should be its own post let me know.

Programs Needed
Firefox
To play the game the without errors.
Download Link[www.mozilla.org]
DB Browser for SQLite
Firefox saves the game in the cache folder on the webappsstore.sqlite file. This program is used to decode and edit the file to inject your save from the steam folder.
Download Link[sqlitebrowser.org]
How To Do It
  1. Install Firefox and DB Browser for SQLite
  2. Open up Hiragana Battle in Firefox
  3. Play the game until you can get to save
  4. Save the game (this will make the save entry we're going to replace)
  5. Close Firefox
  6. Go to [User]\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[default profile] (location of the firefox save)
  7. Open the webappstore.sqlite file in DB Browser for SQLite
  8. Go to ____\Steam\steamapps\common\HiraganaBattle\save (location of the steam save)
  9. Open these files in notepad
    • config.rpgsave
    • global.rpgsave
    • The save you want to transfer (usually the save with the highest number)
  10. Go back to DB Browser for SQLite
  11. In the file we have open. Look for strings that have Hiragana Battle in the scope column. (Those are the strings we're going to modify)
  12. On the strings you'll notice that on the key column. You'll see RPG Config, RPG File1, RPG Global.
  13. Click on the value of one the strings
  14. Replace the text in the string with text from the appropriate steam file
  15. Click Apply
  16. Repeat the last 3 steps until all the strings are modified
  17. Close and save DB Browser for SQLite
  18. Close the rest of the files
  19. Reopen Hiragana Battle in Firefox
  20. Go to your save
  21. Done! You should be right where you left from the steam side (If the save time does not match your gameplay time. Just resave in Firefox and it will fix it.)

If you have any questions. Do not hesitate to ask. まてね!

Nice Matallic!
Could you please check this and update it. I think it's not the file webappstore.sqlite anymore, could that be the case? Can't find any hiragana related in there... Thanks a lot!

Edit:
ok, found it, now it's in:

[PROFILE]\storage\default\http+++localhost\ls\data.sqlite

Edit2:
Do you also have the "problem" that in the options menu the background is upside down?

Thanks Kapunoii, that did the trick for me; the format was set to 192kHz (pointlessly high for playback purposes) and dropping it down to 48kHz fixed the issue without quality loss.
