PSA:

Everyone that plays VRChat and is unaware. Do not get on VRChat today until further notice. There are hacked clients being used that takes your avatar (like its on a pedestal and can change their name to yours) People are running around as others saying racist things.

Hi, all. We're aware of a small set of users that are using tools to take avatars and wear them (as if they used an avatar pedestal) as well as modify their nameplates to potentially impersonate others. We are actively working on this issue and hope to have a resolution soon. As a reminder, modifying the client in any way is a lifetime ban offense, and a moderator will not hesitate to ban on report.

Additionally, please be aware that despite best efforts at security, it is often possible to rip a model from any game using software tools. If you upload content to VRChat, it is possible for a malicious user to rip this content from VRChat and reupload it as their own. Keep this in mind when uploading content to the app.

yes but stealing someone custom avater they hand made there self and no one dosn't have it that means he or she wouldnt be happy with you

I know a few guys who really pushed the limits of customization for their little avatars, adding some wild effects, sound effects, custom animations, etc. That's a lot of hours down the drain when some jerk just steals that out of nowhere and taunts you for it.

I can confirm that the OP is 100% correct, and I have seen all of these things first hand. There are people who pride themselves on their unique and well made avatars, so I could understand them getting upset by people stealing them.

I have made 25+ avatars, but I could care less about others using them.

You don't need to worry about that, apparently in the discord they said it's easy to tell who's who in that kind of situation.

I ran across my first person who used a modified client. At first, I thought he was some random person stalking me, but turned out he had some insidious plans for me and others. I was able to get some footage of the said "hacker" in question.

this person "really good guy" has been teleporting people to one spot in the map, usually to where he is. I sugest caution arround him.
