VRChat
Hacker going around and doxing people
There was a hacker who came into a public world earlier with a hacked client and was going up to people and telling them things like "So you live in ______ city."

They can apparently see everyone's IP addresses with their hacked client and then those IP addresses can be cross-referenced to figure out in what area someone lives.

Kind of sad that people are going to have to play using a VPN...

What, if anything, do you think a public IP exposes you to? Vague geolocation isn't particularly accurate. Remote clients can't install anything on your computer.

Lmao, all they can see is your IP address. While this is probably not ideal, this isn't actually a dox.

One of those guys tried that with me, and they ended up getting the city wrong entirely. It all depends on how your ISP sets things up.

This is an old thing. People have done this for years to scare others on games, but it's harmless.

A lot of people in this game--especially my foreign friends do not like having their information exposed like that.

This isn't a thing. They can't do this.
