VRChat

You guys are killing your game
Ever since the knuckles meme ended, vrchat has been on a steady decline into the abyss, and it's like the devs don't even care anymore. From the hackers running around everywhere unpunished to limiting everyone because these people running on potatoes cant keep up, to just plain breaking the game for just about everyone with a bad update. I really don't want this game to dissapear because the devs are just... letting this happen. The hacker thing has been going on for a while now, hell i even know some people that actually do it. You need to set a client side particle limiter and actually ban these hackers. Also servers that can handle more than 10 people would be nice. You and the Hackers are killing the small shards of the community you once had and it would be cool if you'd pick them up and try to rebuild. I like vrchat. Ive had more fun in that game than ive had in any other for a while. I really don't want to see it die. The creative freedom you gave your players sparked one of the most unique communities in gaming history, and i just dont want to see it go to waste and be left in the dust.

I can't understand why VRChat, of all games, is being targeted from hackers who can actually do a lot of damage to the people. Aside from crashers, I have seen reports, in this forum, about hackers whp can hack your PC through VRChat and install malicious codes or something and people who can practically see where do you live. Seriously, the devs should really check their game because apparently, there are bugs or something in their game's coding that can cause massive troubles to players.

This isn't even like other games like FPS where the only hackers are only pissing off players because they are cheating (with wall hacks, aimboting, ect.), because they have not skill. No, this is something much more dangerous and serious matter because people's private/personal information is at stakes here.

I'm not spreading "false" information. I have seen people talking about something like that in those forums.
Either way, it is possible for them to track you down through your IP and hack you.

You are more active then me so you should know this, as I only have been lurking around and commenting from time to time. Do I really need to link you the discussion now???

Oh no, a hacker just obtained my IP through this game and now he is going to hack through my computer and steal everything LOLOL

Honestly, if anything gets on the PC platform, don't be surprised when people start to tinker with it and do weird stuff. If you don't want your IP to be tracked, stop whining and get yourself a VPN. Many servers and websites out there will still obtain your IP with or without your knowledge.

The closest thing that is dangerous about this game is downloading models from a sketchy site and getting a virus. And that's not the games fault.

Also, even the people who have good specs have framerate problems in the game. Ever since the update, VRchat is just one giant lagfest and its not because of potato computers.

Tupper already confirmed that that was just false information being spread to hurt the game

IP Addresses only show at most, your city.
They're just trying to scare you, but yeah that type of stuff shouldn't be easily obtainable, might have to do with the VOIP or just how they handle connections in instances.

IP Lookups are hilariously inaccurate. If you're really worried about that, you're worried about the wrong thing.
As for finding your IP easily, I don't see why people are so bothered by it. People can't do anything with your IP, and you can see everyone's IP in most games with a packet sniffer or a similar program.

Do you honestly expect people to buy VPNs only to play a game like VRChat?? Lol, no, forget about it, I will not play this game for ♥♥♥♥.
As far I know, only the hosts of the servers can see your IP because of the netcode.

Yes, I'm worried that hacker might track my IP address, potentially hack me and steal private information. That legitimately happened to me when I had my old PC (apparently, there was a file leak) even when I had a program to protect me. Why that happened to me considering that I'm nobody? I don't know but I do know that it might happen to anyone.
Right now, I have 2 protection programs and I'm still paranoid.

Doesn't matter, I don't want to risk it.

I wonder.... Have you, guys, ever heard of keyloggers?

Some people were dropped as a kid, this one's clearly thrown at the wall.

LOL have you heard of 'free VPN services'?? If you can afford two anti-virus programs and cannot even get a single VPN service for yourself, you clearly need to set your priorities straight.

Plus, VPN services can extend more to just VRChat. Who uses their VPN just solely for VRChat LOLOL

No one is going to waste time hacking into your computer unless you are some rich Nigerian prince who probably downloads everything he sees off the Internet. If that's the case, you probably deserved it.

I probably won't listen to some random guy on the Internet preaching about some hacker doxing people unless he provides solid proof for his case. Pictures or it didn't exist.
