It's definitely a VRchat update that broke things.. even though there are over 7k players. Not even the desktop version works.. so that rules out the VRHeadset related issues, no? this is bothersome.
Edit: Could this by any chance be related to doing a sim-link with VRChat's cache folder? i used to do this a few updates ago without an issue.. because i didn't want VRchat to bloat my SSD with nonstop write/reads of several GB's within a short amount of time..and we cannot set it to another drive at all via any setting, unless its done manually by the user via OS.
Something is definitely wrong, but i have no idea what.. there are like 6-7k people online and it seems to work for them.. it's confusing. Maybe it's related to a windows 10 update and/or SteamVR update. I didn't change anything on my own since last time i started VRchat, though.
PS: The output log file inside VRChat's cache folder in locallow is filled with a bunch of errors. For example
"API websocket connection exception :System .Net . WebException: Error getting response stream (Write: The authentication or decryption has failed.): SendFailure" or "Exception - TlsException: Invalid certificate received from server. Error code: 0xffffffff800b010a
" No idea what exactly they're supposed to mean, but it looks like a server side issue of VRChat..
As weird as it is, its like the game goes to like 1 frame per minute. In Desktop mode or VR mode yields the same problem.
Now i was previously able to run this game for years without issue, and its been not working for only a few weeks, so im trying to trace back what i may have done during that time that created this issue.
- A windows update?
- Added a BLE-Midi driver from Korg.
- Uninstalled reinstalled VoiceMeeter.
- Uninstalled reinstalled Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Played around with my bluetooth settings.
- Updated a Microsoft Visual c++ Redistributable
And that's it, that all that happened from the time it worked till the time it became unusable.
Also note that im trying to get in with my HTC Vive on my pc, But if i use my Oculus Quest standalone i can get in to my VrChat account fine. So im pretty sure the problem is not with my VrChat account, the world im in, or the avatar selected.
Things i've done include making sure my graphic drivers Nvidia we're good and updated. Did a clean vrChat reinstall. Started VrChat in low-res by holding the Shift-key on start-up.
Nothing helped.
All my other games work fine in vr so its isolated to VrChat.
-------------------------- UPDATE!!! FIXED IT!!! -------------------
Turns out it was the midi driver from KORG.
There's a FAQ on VrChat that mentions conflict with most virtual audio drivers. This is weird because the problem we have is major lags so the last thing we would think about is a audio driver problem, and at least in my case i focused on finding a solution in the graphic settings realm.
So, all is back to normal.
