Flying avatar doesn't work?

I found an avatar in one world that can fly. However, when I go to another world, it can no longer fly. How do you get it to fly in the other worlds too?

Some avatars are keyed to work with world-specific systems and will only work in worlds that have that system.
Your flying avatar is one of those avatars.

In addition to what Mio Rin said, the avatar you have may require you to be able to jump to fly. If you're in a world where you can't jump, you won't be able to fly.
