what about the comfort, if you wear it for longer time, aswell as the controllers - are there differences? thanks again!
In terms of controllers i honestly prefer the oculus rift because they last a lot longer, honestly they lasted a few days or close to a week - only used it a few hours a day and the good side is the batteries can be replaced they feel fine to use no problems with them at all, however the HTC controllers only last about 4-6 hours and have to plugged in to charge for 2 hours, the controller are fine just a bit bulky to use.
overall they are both very good, its more of a personal opinion if you want a better resolution per eye, 10 fps more and the ability to change the IPD on the headset then the HTC may be worth the extra £600, but honestly for the oculus rift s priced at £300 its really not a bad deal.
thank you very much for the detailed opinion/experience!
It's a bang for your buck and the batteries are cheap and the lifetime is incredible. Though the face pad can deteriorate quickly, you can easily replace it with a foam one (What the HTC has). But as the person previous said, it's based on your personal preference. If it's your first ever headset, it's a definite as it was my first, but your experience may differ.
i heard mostly negative about oculus quest 2, not bc its "low" budged, more bc you are way more restricted in useing.
vr-chat you cant go into every server, cant see every character and probably more problems with other games that i cant play with it.
i want the vr headset mostly for vr-chat, but aswell try out other things, maybe military shooter or raceing games.
i even considered buying straight the valve index, but its not that cheap tho, so i wanna be complete sure. i watched yesterday a couple videos and i guess the index is the only one with finger/hand tracking?
i didnt really got it but is with index aswell the foot tracking incl?
and thanks for all the answers!
Yeah, that much is true. But hey, making a facebook account with little to nothing on it works well enough. :P
yeah i forgot to mention that, thats also a thing.
true, i just dont get the original idea behind it this "feature"
So yea the index is the only one that you get to twiddle all your fingers freely which is freaky to see, lol, and you can get feet and waist pucks separately that you can use with the index base stations to achieve full body. It's the only way I know besides like Haptic Suit pieces to get that effect which are of course more expensive
Quest and Quest 2 users are heavily restricted and easy to crash if they're using the native Quest VRChat program. Like I said though if you run VRChat through your PC through steam or whatnot with you Quest plugged into your PC then you have no restrictions whatsoever. You can achieve this through an Oculus link cable or a different cable that's strong enough to transfer data like that. It allows me to play all of my Steam VR games without restrictions as well as Oculus exclusive games. From everyone I've talked to the Oculus Quest 2 is the most accessible entry point into VR and the best overall deal as far as price point and what you're getting.
I will say though I have every intention to get the Index as soon as I have the money to do so since full body is important to me and I use VR so much. I've also heard that the Index feels expensive which is good since that means you're getting your money's worth.
There's no shame in not having VR though in VRChat, you've be amazed how many people don't actually have VR and are on every day. Of course VR brings something I can't really describe, you can only experience. However not having VR is a totally valid starting point so don't feel ashamed or pressured into buying it before starting. I'll never be able to have the point of view that desktop users get since I've only ever played in Oculus and PC VR so I missed that perspective. I do have friends that switch between VR and desktop though even though they have VR so I think it's very much personal preference
