Launches on desktop but not in headset
So I have the Oculus Rift headset and when I launch VRChat it opens on my desktop but on my headset it just shows it is loading. When I move my headset it moves on my desktop but that's it.

I have tried reinstalling multiple times. Any ideas?

Won't launch through Oculus home for me. I get this as well if i try.

Works if i launch it through the Steam VR home though.

Or can take headset off and click the steam VR button. then launch the game and put headset back on and it works.

Fixed!

Make sure you have the game running on the same monitor that your VR headset is plugged into.

For expample: It wasn't working for me because I had my VR plugged into my GPU and the game was running on a secondary monitor that wasnt.

So how do you have them running on the same monitor?

Having the exact same issue, Sokkz your answer doesn't make a whole lotta sense. How would we make it go to a different monitor / gpu?

Basically, make sure your monitor and your headset are both plugged on the graphic card.

what if your graphics card only has one HDMI port?

If your graphics card has Displayports or a DVI port along side the one HDMI, buy a Displayport->HDMI adapter or a DVI>HDMI adapter. Ive done it both ways on two cards and it's worked.

A word of warning though, I'm currently using a Display port to hdmi adapter and the image on my monitor is not displaying, However the VR headset will still boot up allowing me to launch games from within the headset. I think it has something to do with cheap displayport adapters and not being able to transfer data.

If your GPU have only one port then you are screwd.
If your monitor can use like DVI or even VGA port on your GPU while your Headset is plugged also on the same GPU, then you will need to use lower quality on the monitor (I use the DVI on mine but idc cause I'm on vr most of the time anyway)

ok i fixed my problem and it now works and it turns out it was due to steam vr being set to a beta so setting the beta to none is what alowed me to play it on my vr

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
