The support answered with the whole "delete the appdata folders etc." which I obviously already tried but they also said to add the VRC folder to exceptions in my antivir. I didnt think this could be it since I am using Microsoft Defender and its usually the one not creating problems, I guess it was the culprit this time though. The new update most likely changed something that got picked up by it.
I will just post everything below, the same message should be in the FAQs somewhere aswell tho.
There's a few things we can try right off the bat to see if you've got something easily solvable. Follow the steps below and we'll see how it goes.
In-App Method:
If you can open VRChat, you can clear your cache and preferences in the Settings menu. Open your Quick Menu, then click Settings. In the top right, click the "Advanced Settings" button. Click both buttons in the pop-up. Restart VRChat. Skip to "Final Steps".
Automatic Method:
Press your Windows key and type "cmd" into your Windows Search bar. Right click "Command Prompt" and click "Run as Administrator". A black command prompt window should pop up. Copy this command with Ctrl-C, and paste it into the window by right-clicking in the window.
rmdir /S /Q %AppData%\..\LocalLow\VRChat\vrchat\Cookies && rmdir /S /Q %AppData%\..\LocalLow\VRChat\vrchat\HTTPCache && rmdir /S /Q %AppData%\..\LocalLow\VRChat\vrchat\Unity && rmdir /S /Q %AppData%\..\LocalLow\VRChat\vrchat\VRCHTTPCache && rmdir /S /Q %TEMP%\VRChat && REG DELETE HKCU\Software\VRChat\vrchat /va
Press Enter. A bunch of files will show as being deleted. It will then ask you if you want to delete all keys under the VRChat key. Press Y for Yes, and press enter. Close the window and skip to the Final Steps section.
If you got any errors, please continue into the Manual Method section.
Manual Method:
First, we'll clear your cache. You can clean cache by deleting the vrchat folder within C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\LocalLow\VRChat. AppData is a hidden folder, and you may have to enable visibility of hidden folders in Windows Folder Options. The easiest method to find this folder is by pasting this into your Windows Explorer address bar: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\ In that folder, delete the vrchat folder, but don't delete the output log text file!
Now, let’s clear VRChat settings (PlayerPrefs). On Windows, open the regedit app and delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VRChat\vrchat. Please be careful when editing your registry, this can potentially damage your computer.
Finally, paste the following address into your Windows Explorer address bar: %TEMP%\VRChat Delete the vrchat folder in that folder.
Final Steps:
Once you've done either method, try opening the Properties for VRChat in Steam and choose "Verify Integrity of Game Files" under the local files tab.
Ensure that you are running the latest version of Windows, and that your GPU drivers are up to date. Please note that we do not support Windows 7, 8.0, or the Insider Edition of Windows 10.
LogMeIn Hamachi is known to cause significant issues with VRChat. We strongly suggest uninstalling it if you have it installed.
Finally, please whitelist VRChat.exe in your antivirus program and any firewalls you might have running. If you can't whitelist the application (or if it doesn't appear to work), try disabling real-time protection on your antivirus and your firewall while you play VRChat. Don't forget to turn it back on! Don't skip this step! Avast and AVG in particular are very picky about things.
If you're still having issues, please reply to this email with your logs. Here's how to find them:
Let's grab your output log. You can find it at C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\VRChat\vrchat\output_log.txt, or by copying and pasting this into your Windows Explorer address bar: %AppData%/../LocalLow/VRChat/vrchat/. There will be several text files in this folder with the pattern "output_log-HH-MM-SS.txt", where the timestamp indicates when the client launched for that particular log. Select all of your output_log files, right click on them, click "Send To", and click "Compressed File". You'll have a ZIP file in that directory. Attach this ZIP to your email. Don't copy and paste the contents, attach the text file!
Also, if you have any error folders in your VRChat folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VRChat) please include those as well. They are typically named in a format like this: 2017-08-01_195906. Please do not try to send your VRChat_Data folder!
It works best when you ZIP all of the files up. I appreciate your patience in doing all this! Many problems are addressed by these steps, so I encourage you to follow them closely.
