How do I log into the website if I use Steam login?

So I use Steam login for vrchat but if I want to log into my account on their website to make a custom character how would I do that. Whenever I use my Steam login on the website it says this account does not exist.

You need to make a new account on the vrchat website. You can't use your steam account. Steam accounts are technically guest accounts.

Unfortunately you cannot link the accounts. It's best to create a new vrchat account as soon as you can. And then log into vrchat (on steam) with your new account name, and start earning trust so you can upload.
