default mic (none) and no sound from the game

I'm pretty sure i know what caused the issue, the problem now is fixing it.
I installed Voicemod for VRchat, but I uninstalled it after it wouldn't let me use my microphone for other things.

I booted up VRchat again afterwards, and there's absolutely no sound coming from the game. When I open the Volume Mixer on my computer, VRchat isn't even an option on there. Better yet, my mircophone isn't showing up in System Settings like it used to before, instead it just says "Default Microphone None) and clicking the arrows isn't showing that theres more microphones.

I know my speakers and microphone is working, but for whatever reason it seems like VRchat isn't connecting to any of them. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but the problem is still there. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know!

Sounds like you got corrupt sound drivers. What drivers are you using? Are you using onboard audio (motherboard audio) like realtek high defintion audio? If so then reinstall those drivers. You can search up Device Manager within windows then go to Sound, Video and gamer controllers > Realtek High Defintion Audio. Right click it and you can uninstall it. Restart your PC and then go to the official realtek website and download the drivers.

so an update I unistalled the audio dervier and reinstalled it and it still detects none. I'm just going to unistall the game it was fun will it lasted and thank you for the support.

I had the same issue, tried everthing, updating stuff, installing everything again etc. Nothing worked untill my friend helped. he restored my pc to an earlier point, like 10days ago before the problem took place and this fixed the problem for me! Only issue is that everything you installed inbetween you will need to reinstall it!

If you've used Voicemod in the past be careful about it.
It's not the game itself just Voicemod creates a Line Driver that needs to be uninstalled. It's still very much a bug in 2023
