Anybody familiar with vmd animations?
I don't have any friends that know what vmd animations are, and their friends don't know how to use it either. I know how to use a vmd animation but something keeps messing up and I'm trying to find a fix but no one can really help me. I've also tried asking a few people that have made avatars worlds that use vmd animations but they refuse to tell you anything like its a secret. If anyone knows or could help I'd appreciate it.

What problems are you having? Also you are referring to MMD dance animations correct?

Yes, they are dances you would see in music videos and they are converted to mmd to use in Vrchat. The issue I'm having is problems with hip rotation and I can't find a way to fix it. It happens on any dance I use and any avatar. I might be missing a step or I have to change something.

It could be the program that you used to convert the animation, did you use blender or something else?

In Blender the animation works properly, when I put the animation in Unity it works as Generic but when I make the avatar humanoid is when the hips don't move but everything else works properly.
I don't do the animation porting side of Avatar Stuff so I don't know the ins and outs of it.

Are you using them as an emote or a gesture?
As a gesture, people create animations with a duplicate of their avatar as a generic to animate. (Very laggy cause your basically loading a whole avatar suddenly)

And as a emote, I'm not sure why it would be acting up. I sometimes see people have problems with the hips but it seems hit or miss, I'm not 100% sure on what is going on to cause it(cause I don't do it)

I have a tool that makes MMD animations that works with any humanoid avatar directly in unity. Blender's animation export isn't that reliable for MMD animations in my opinion

I use them as an emote. There might be an issue with converting the file. .anim files are rigged for you to begin with so when you import them you don't have to change anything. A few tutorials I've seen have the same issue where the hips don't move, and one tutorial didnt have that issue but she did the same thing as everyone else. Not really sure what the problem is.

mmd4mecanim, it's not being updated anymore and it's a little tricky to get it working properly but it works

I think I used that and the developers made it so you can't use it on Vrchat anymore, it takes the VRSDK out of your unity.

Oh does it? I didn't know that, I don't have the most recent version.
