PMX file?
I download an avatar i want but is an pmx file what to with it anyone could help out?

PMX is a MMD model. You will have to lower the poly count, convert it to something that blender can use (like FBX), and then go through the normal import process. Look for "Blender MMD Tools" and "Cats Blender Plugin". Good luck!

Yes, I recommend after using the MMD tools plugin to import, you export as fbx when ready. You'll have to use the decimate modifier to get within the poly count limit. The one I used of 115,408 needed .13 to be input into the collapse ratio to make it 15,002 polys. After you decimate, press alt + H to show all as there are some weird objects that will appear due to decimating but they're hidden. At least for me that happened. Then use ctl + left click to select everything, shift + right click to deselect the model itself and the bones (if you have them visible), then just delete those weird objects.

That's what I've been doing with the model I got and am trying to get in-game fine. If your model has a dress, you may have some troubles with the angle between pelvis and thigh as I have that issue. Although I'm unsure if it's the dress, but I've tried everything else I can think of. I'm going to be removing all the bones in her hair and dress and see what that does. I will let you know what the result is when I do that.
Is there any specific reason to export your models as FBX? I have always done them as .dae instead.

I don't think it really matters in the end, but I prefer it over OBJ at least. I've only exported as OBJ and FBX. But I found that exporting as OBJ will not yield an animator, while as FBX will.
