How do I set a jpg/png picture as my avatar's icon?
I suppose it has something to do with Unity, since you can't upload your own profile picture.

if you drag a FBX file into unity. A material folder will be created with some balls. These balls need the texture/pictures and they will "color" the avatar.

PNG/JPG (file) can be done in paint.

I believe they are talking about how the avatar appears in the selection menu, not the textures of the avatar itself.
