Where do my public avatars go to?
So usually when I make an avatar I just keep them private but recently someone asked if I could share it which I wouldn't mind but I couldn't tell him where they go, I'm assuming my vrchat profile on their website but I'm not 100% sure.

The way I'd do it, so you have some control, is to create a private avatar world with Avatar Pedestals with your avatar ID. This way you can just drop a portal to the world, someone can go in, get your avatar, and come back out.

However, if you want to let them use the avatar anytime the same way you access it(VRChat menu), then you need to give them a Unity Package containing the model, materials, and VRC_Avatar_Descripter stuff so they can upload it to their account. This is currently the only 2 methods you really have to share an avatar.

Oh ok so when I build my avatars and click the public option it just makes it usable by pedestals in a world I created? Or is the public option useless?

As far as I know, setting public/private does nothing. I'm probably wrong on this, but maybe it just stops people from using an avatar set to private if they get the avatar-id somehow. Probably not implemented though.

well I did notice in someones avatar room there was 1 private one, it said avatar only able to be used by (avatar's creater name) so I'm assuming you are right, setting them to public and making a pedestal lets people use it but if you make them private you can make a pedestal for an avatar only you can use

If you mark an avatar as "public", that just means it will be available on pedestals for other people. If you want other people to use it, you would need your own avatar world.

Private avatars on pedestals can only be selected by the owner. It's really just a countermeasure against people who take your avatar's blueprint and put it on a pedestal without your permission (which would effectively allow anyone to use your avatar).
