VRChat
if anyone knows how to fix this! Really appreciate any help.
I recently tried VRChat in VR using my Meta Quest 3, and I’m having two problems that I can’t figure out:

-My microphone from the Meta Quest 3 doesn’t work.

-Hand tracking doesn’t work either. (i was activate in meta settings and in VR chat controlls)

For context, I’m playing through VRLink, so I'm using a cable connection to my PC. :blankbs:

much thanks if someone knows how to fix it :e3big:

By "VRLink", I assume you mean using the official Meta Quest Link desktop app? If so, I can try to help a bit.

For the microphone:
  • Try to check in the headset settings that it isn't muted
  • In VRChat, check that you're using the "Headset Microphone (Occulus Virtual Audio Device)" (or whatever it may be named) microphone
  • Check the audio level is high enough
  • Check your current speaking method (Always on / Push to talk / Push to mute / Always off)

For the hands tracking, it's simpler; it's not supported by the MQ Link. As of the latest v76.1025 build, it's still not supported, and given Meta's lack of involvement with PCVR (favoring their own native apps store over), I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

You'll have to use another solution such as Steam Link (free) or Virtual Desktop (25 USD, sometime on sales). Those apps, to be downloaded from the Meta store (not through Steam or the Meta Quest Link app), are wireless streaming apps. AFAIK, there's no way to play through the link cable only and have hands-tracking (which is bothersome since using Wi-Fi will drain the battery about twice as fast).

Thanks for the quick reply! I’ll try it out later and let you know how it goes.
Regarding hand tracking – I’m using the Oculus (Meta) Quest app. Is it the only one that doesn’t support it, or is it the same with Virtual Desktop as well?

Both Steam Link and Virtual Desktop support hands tracking. I've used them both and got to play VRChat hands-free without issues. MQ Link app is the only one that doesn't track your hands at all.

On a side note, Virtual Desktop also supports the inside-out body tracking of the Quest 3. Those tracking points (elbows, chest, hip, knees, foot) will show up as Vive trackers in Steam VR. The upper body tracking is quite fine in VRC. The legs, not so much… Still, a nice thing to have should you buy Virtual Desktop.

You have to buy it from the Quest Store, either from your headset or in a browser. The one on Steam is meant for older headsets and is not compatible with the Meta Quest 3.

Virtual Desktop's official webpage should have all the info you need to buy and set it up afterward.

one last question :D the virtuell destop run it with cable too ? without wireless becouse i have 5meter cable and my inet is not that fast
Unfortunately, no. About every desktop-to-headset streaming apps are over Wi-Fi. This is due to Meta not opening their software development kit to let third-party developers use networking through the cable link. That's why I've used Steam Link first to check for free if my brandless router was up to the task (Wi-Fi 5 only, but with a 5 GHz band and 160 MHz channels). You may try to tweak bitrates to get away with a slower wireless network, but if it's still underperforming, you may have to purchase a new router. The Virtual Desktop's Discord server has an up-to-date list of recommended models.

Just to be exhaustive, according to very few Reddit posts, there may just be a hack'ish way to use an undocumented Ethernet feature of the MQ 3 by using some Ethernet-to-USB-C dongle. However, there's no guarantee it still works as of today, and if so, it may be removed at any point in the future without notice, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you're that daring.

Maybe switch from Meta Quest 3 to Valve Index 2 if it comes out in future. I need to say its cool that programms like virtuell destop exist but its rly all annoying against normal pc VRHeadset :blankbs:
