You can! However, it's a bit technical. You'll want to find a method that plays nice with a distro you're willing to use.

May need to install the proton easy anti cheat runtime, should be in your library when you search for it. if that does not work you may need to repair the anti cheat and or verify files/clean install vrchat. You will also want to use proton plus to install proton-ge rtsp as it has additional codecs that vrchat uses for media players, once you do you can change the compatibility layer for vrchat to that custom proton build.

ubuntu by default uses the snap package manager (for some weird reason instead of apt) so perhaps easy anti cheat doesn't like the sandboxing of snap packages. I suggest trying out linux mint and installing the apt version of steam on a separate device and if vrchat runs without an anti cheat error that is likely the issue.
