Installation Helper?
I've heard people saying that you need to run an "installation helper" in order to be able to launch URLs from the website. Allegedly they got a message asking them to do that, but I either never got one or missed it.

I found an install.exe in the folder but running it didn't do anything.

What do I need to do in order to launch worlds from the website?

Click the link on the website. Your browser should ask you if you want to open the link in vrchat.

It only says that it can't find an app to open the file.
I'm on Firefox btw if that makes a difference.

... You have run vrchat before, right?

And if yes, you are having a weird issue and I don't know how to solve it.
But just in case, here is some information about "installation helpers": Basically, this is just a program telling your browser "Hey, if you find any links which start with *AbreviatedProgramName*, those are meant for me". If set up properly, your browser will send the link to the program when clicked, and the program will then use it.

it would have shown a prompt on 1st start asking you, you probable hit cancel thinking it was some weird thing. only way i know of to redo the prompt is to fully remove vrc (including the registry hive it DOESNT remove by the uninstaller) then reinstall, this does however reset all settings (dont worry, avatars and friends are saved server side so arent affected)

"manual method" here will give you the key, proceed at own risk https://help.vrchat.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500002247921-VRChat-keeps-crashing-or-has-issues-launching-properly

I actually got it working. Apparently I needed to set launch.exe (in the VRC folder) as the program to open the link, not the regular VRC exe.

In order to open the link in VR, I need to have VRC already running in VR mode, then it'll send me to the world I opened via link. Otherwise, it would open a desktop instance.
