i know rippers will always be a problem but the ripperstore storefront going down feels like a big win for all of our stuff on the upload getting deleted, so now it seems like we will only have to worry about singular individual rippers instead of a full community so far.

Apparently this isn't the first time they've announced a "shut down" of that site.

If true, it can very well be just another ploy to get free advertisement.

anyway, ripping is impossible to defeat unless Vrchat themselve do something. one thing that ive noticed though is that the ripper store avatar converter cant read foreign text so itll just completely remove anything with foreign characters for example. so ive been renaming all my meshes and materials to foreign words just to mess with people who rip my stuff. but ripping is so bad right now that a private avatar i uploaded TODAY is already on their site after a few hours in publics haha

You got the idea. Most don't sell the avatars they rip due to that opening up real legal troubles, but they put the avatars up for free or maybe charge for some kind of subscription for their "services".

It was a website where you could find an avatar by name or ID, and you could copy it and publish it on your own behalf.
