VRChat
I don't trust this age verification method
So I figured you would have to put in some data about when you were born and maybe
have some sort of code sent to your email to verify it.
But no, I have to take a picture of myself with my driver license or some other government ID and send it back to VRChat/Persona.
Does anyone else have an issue with this or am I overeating? Seems like you are putting a lot of sensitive info out there on the internet just to say your over 18?

Frankly enough that also what stop me. I might not live on the country where everything needs ID but that would still stop me dead on the track.

And yeah, you're not alone with that overeating thought apparently.

I don’t trust it either and first of all should be free

You all must be "bouncers" who think an actual age verification method isn't enough, but asking someone their dob somehow is lmao Is it perfect? no, of course not, but it's definitely much better than just trusting people not to lie when you ask them.

I'm not comfortable with a company having my picture and my government info for a video game. I know it says they will delete the info after they verified me, but I don't really trust companies to hold up their end when it comes to personal data. I wish I could get a refund on VRC+

I can confirm that i have no idea how it works or why it let me use a passport that is 18 years out of date

I followed the instructions the first time, did everything it asked and it failed the verification check (rightly so)

the second time (a few days later) i tried again and it worked and i feel that it shouldn't have as the old passport photo and how i look now are so drastically different its like it is 2 different people

It might be fine, But if vrchat got hacked that data might be easily found.
Dont do it If I were you, If I were you, I wouldn't support this woke game company anymore, in terms of buying stuff.

Is anything you don't like "woke"?

Anyway. OP it's up to you, VRChat states they don't hold your information, it's encrypted, and anything they do have from you they delete after X amount of days so it's not stored in their servers. They also automate putting in an immediate request to persona to stop holding your data once it's been sent in and verified.

Again, it's up to you to decide if you're okay with that, and if you think you can trust them to actually do so.

If it doesn't effect your gameplay, don't worry about having it. It's mainly a way just to heavily moderate instances more to make sure everything is 18+, but if that's not stopping you from hanging out with your friends, then there is no harm in NOT getting verified.

Any robocalls I get have 100% been from other companies unrelated to VRChat.

There has been ZERO companies that have called me that have obtained my data from VRChat or Persona.

:steamthis:

Pretty much. Because if being free user/not verifying can still make you meet people like normal, then don't ever feeling left out. Most of age verified stuff is usually group activity instances that I'm 100% confident you'll lose interest under 10 minutes anyway unless you're part of it.
